Product description

This is a ready-to-use set for serums and oils: an amber glass vial with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a white-and-gold dropper with a glass pipette. Amber glass limits light transmission, making the bottle ideal for contents that deteriorate gradually in light – facial serums, oil blends with active ingredients, essential oil blends, tinctures, or beard oils. The dropper allows dispensing contents drop by drop, which is more precise than pouring from the neck when working with concentrated formulas.

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and is intended for cosmetic products.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – amber glass limits light transmission to the contents, helping to extend the stability of oxidation-sensitive oils and active ingredients.
  • Precise dosing – the dropper dispenses small amounts drop by drop, without spilling and without unnecessary exposure of the entire contents to air with each opening.
  • Chemically resistant glass – does not react with oils, essential oils, or alcohol-based extracts, does not absorb fragrances, and can be reused.
  • White-and-gold finish – the white and gold colour of the dropper pairs well with the amber glass and with a label, making the set suitable for products intended for sale or gifting.
  • Matched pair – the bottle and dropper share the same neck type, so there is no need to check whether the closure fits and seals.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed under normal filling. Total brim volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the glass pipette of the dropper, which takes up some space once screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will overflow when the dropper is inserted. Both values can be found in the product specifications.

With thicker oils and serums, leave a slightly larger gap in the neck. The dropper pipette will displace some of the contents when inserted, and the contents will draw up more easily without bubbles the first time it is used.

How to use the dropper

The dropper consists of a glass pipette, a screw collar, and a squeeze bulb; the construction combines glass, plastic, aluminium, and silicone. Squeezing and releasing the bulb draws the contents into the pipette; drops are then dispensed by gently squeezing. After use, the dropper is screwed back on to seal the bottle.

With facial serums and oils, it is best to dispense from the dropper onto the palm or fingertips rather than directly onto the skin. The pipette does not touch the skin, and the contents in the bottle remain cleaner. The dropper handles oil-based, alcohol-based, and water-based contents. With very thin aqueous solutions, dosing drop by drop is less precise because the contents drip from the pipette more quickly.

What is good to know

  • Before first use, wash the bottle and dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Residual water could cause cloudiness in an anhydrous product or promote microbial growth.
  • Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes; the glass may crack. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Bulb and strong solvents – the pipette is glass, but the bulb and seal are not. With contents that have a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking whether the bulb changes shape or softens with prolonged contact.
  • Reuse – the glass can be washed and used again. The dropper can also be reused, but the bulb loses elasticity over time, so inspect it when refilling.
  • Other closures – further closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes in glass recycling; the dropper is made of multiple materials, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.

The set as a whole is not declared for contact with food. The glass bottle has a certificate for direct food contact on its own; the dropper does not. Use the set for cosmetic products only.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber glass vial protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass significantly limits light transmission and thereby slows light-induced changes in the contents. It is suitable for oils prone to oxidation, serums with vitamin C or retinol, and essential oil blends. Glass alone does not replace an antioxidant in the formulation or storage away from direct sunlight.
How much content fits in the 50 ml dropper vial?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the brim. The total brim volume is larger, but the reserve above the nominal volume is needed for the dropper pipette and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If you fill the bottle higher, the contents will overflow when the dropper is screwed on.
Is the dropper vial suitable for an oil serum or an essential oil blend?
Yes, both the glass bottle and the glass pipette of the dropper are resistant to oils and essential oils. With contents that have a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend monitoring the dropper bulb, which is not glass, to check whether it changes shape with prolonged contact. For standard facial oils and serums, this is a typical application for a dropper.
Can the glass dropper vial be used for a toner or hydrolat?
Yes, both the glass and the dropper can handle water-based contents. However, a water-based product must be preserved, because the dropper comes into contact with air and with the contents each time it is used. With thin aqueous solutions, dosing drop by drop is less precise. If you are applying the contents to a larger area, a spray with the same neck type is more practical.
How to clean the vial and dropper before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse, and disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Rinse the dropper several times by drawing up and squeezing out the same solution. Allow both parts to dry completely. For oil residues, a short soak in warm water with washing-up liquid will help. Before the next filling, check the dropper bulb to ensure it holds its shape and seals.
