The 100 ml glass bottle with pump dispenser is a ready-to-fill set for serums, facial oils and light emulsions applied in small doses. The amber glass bottle filters light, making it ideal for formulations with vegetable oils, vitamins and extracts that degrade more quickly when exposed to light. The pump dispenser with dip tube releases the contents without opening the bottle. The user does not touch the product with their fingers and the neck remains closed throughout use.

The set consists of a bottle with straight shoulders and a 24/410 neck and a transparent plastic pump dispenser with a glossy silver collar. Both parts fit together without any further adjustment. The packaging simply needs to be prepared for filling and filled.

What products is the set suitable for

• Facial and hair serums – the pump reliably draws up liquid to moderately viscous textures and each press releases approximately the same amount, making it easier to recommend a dose to the customer.
• Oil blends and cleansing oils – amber glass slows light-induced oxidation of oils and the pump prevents spilling, which is a common issue with wide necks or droppers.
• Light emulsions, milks and fluids – body and facial milks, moisturising fluids and light O/W emulsions with low to medium viscosity.
• Cleansing gels and thinner toners – as long as they do not contain exfoliating particles or larger undissolved components.

The set is not suitable for thick creams, butters or products with solid particles. The pump cannot draw up thick substances, or will become blocked after a few presses and particles will clog the valve.

Working with the pump dispenser

Before first use, the pump needs to be pressed several times until the dip tube and the inside of the pump are filled with the product. One press releases approximately 0.65 ml, which corresponds to a typical single-application dose of serum or facial oil. With thicker textures the dose is usually smaller. With very thin liquids, a small residue may drip from the nozzle after pressing.

If the dip tube rests on the bottom and bends after screwing on, shorten it with a sharp knife using a diagonal cut just above the bottom. The pump will then draw up the remaining contents and the tube will not stick to the bottom.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold at standard filling, and this is the figure stated on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which push some of the contents upward when screwed on, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filled to the brim, the product overflows through the neck when the pump is fitted and the collar becomes contaminated.

What to know before filling

• Packaging preparation – wash the bottle before first filling, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Flush the pump with alcohol by pumping it through and leave to dry with the dip tube facing down.
• Reuse – glass withstands repeated washing and disinfection. The inside of the pump and the valve cannot be cleaned thoroughly, so when changing formulation or for products intended for sale, we recommend using a new pump and keeping the glass bottle.
• Glass and heat – fill with cooled product. Hot emulsion or a sudden temperature change can damage the glass and the pump is not designed for hot filling.
• Plastic and strong solvents – for products with a high proportion of essential oils, pure solvents or anhydrous alcohol preparations, verify that the pump material does not change in appearance or function after several weeks.
• Labelling – the straight cylindrical body without tapering makes it easy to apply a wraparound label. The bottle dimensions are listed in the product specifications.
• Other closures – other 24/410 closures from the Handymade range also fit the bottle; ready-made combinations have their own description. For a custom combination, verify the seal and dispensing performance with the specific formulation.
• Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling; the pump combines plastic and metal and should be separated from the bottle when sorting.
