Product description

Glass bottle, vial, white cap with dropper, 100 ml is a complete set for precise dosing of liquid preparations drop by drop. It consists of a brown glass vial, a long plastic dropper inserted into the neck, and a white screw cap. Brown glass reduces light exposure, making the set particularly suitable for facial oils, oil serums and tinctures — contents whose shelf life is shortened by light and air. The 100 ml volume is practical for home production of larger batches as well as for small series intended for sale.

The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – brown glass absorbs a large part of the light spectrum, slowing the oxidation of vegetable oils and the loss of aromas in essential oils and tinctures.
  • Drop-by-drop dosing – the long dropper reaches deeper into the bottle and releases the contents slowly and in a controlled manner. Suitable where small amounts are used, such as with serums or concentrates.
  • Inert material – glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol or solvents, does not affect the contents in taste or smell, and can be cleaned repeatedly.
  • Easy to use – the cap screws onto a standard neck, the dropper stays in the neck and is not removed during normal use.

Use in formulation

The set is primarily suitable for anhydrous and oil-based preparations: facial and hair oils, oil serums, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, oil extracts, as well as alcohol tinctures and liquid concentrates. Dispensing is straightforward by tilting the container. The contents flow through the dropper drop by drop, making it easy to measure out even small amounts.

With aqueous preparations such as tonics or hydrolates, the dropper also works. However, drop-by-drop dosing generally does not make practical sense for these, and a spray is usually more suitable. Thick serums and gels flow slowly or not at all through the dropper. For such textures, we recommend testing the behaviour of the specific formulation before filling an entire batch.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. The nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for normal filling. The total volume to the rim is larger, and the difference provides a reserve for the dropper, which displaces some air when closed, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle will overflow when closing.

When filling a larger number of units, it is good practice to fill all bottles first, then insert the droppers, and only then screw on the caps. The dropper is pressed into the neck by hand until it seats all the way around.

What's good to know

  • Before first filling, wash the bottle, dropper and cap, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry thoroughly. Residual water in an oil-based preparation shortens its shelf life.
  • Repeated use is unrestricted for the glass bottle — simply clean and disinfect it. The plastic dropper may harden or change shape after prolonged contact with essential oils or alcohol; check it or replace it when refilling.
  • Glass and heat – the bottle can withstand filling with slightly warm preparations, but sudden temperature changes stress the glass. Allow hot mixtures to cool to approximately room temperature before filling.
  • Labelling – the cylindrical shape allows labels to be applied without folds; label dimensions for design can be found in the parameters. For oil-based preparations, choose grease-resistant labels.
  • Other closures – other closures from the Handymade range also fit the same type of neck, and the online shop also offers complete sets with other closures. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the glass bottle goes into glass recycling, the cap and dropper into plastics; simply separate them before sorting.

The set is not intended for contact with food. Only the glass vial individually holds a certificate for direct food contact; the plastic dropper and cap do not. For home oils or syrups, choose a bottle with a closure whose food-contact suitability is stated in the parameters.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass vial with dropper protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass absorbs a large part of the light, including its UV component, thereby slowing the oxidation of vegetable oils and the degradation of sensitive substances. It is not a complete barrier, so store filled bottles away from direct sunlight regardless. Compared to clear glass, however, it offers significantly better protection for oils, serums and tinctures.
Is the 100 ml glass vial with dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, glass is inert to essential oils and the brown colour protects them from light. Attention should be paid to the plastic dropper, which may soften or harden after prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils. For blends diluted in a carrier oil, the set is suitable without further precautions; for pure essential oils, we recommend checking the dropper regularly.
How much can actually be filled into the vial with dropper?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume stated in the name and in the parameters, not to the rim. The total volume to the rim is larger, and the difference serves as a reserve for the dropper and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled right up to the neck, the contents will overflow when the dropper is pressed in.
Can the glass vial with dropper be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol without restriction. Before refilling, check the plastic dropper and cap for deformation or absorption of the scent of the previous contents. When changing the formulation, we recommend replacing the dropper.
Is the vial with dropper set suitable for food?
No, the complete set is not approved for food contact. Only the glass vial individually holds a certificate for direct food contact; the plastic dropper and white cap do not. The set is intended for cosmetic preparations. For home oils or syrups, a closure with food-contact suitability is required.
Does the dropper work with thick serums or gel preparations?
Only to a limited extent. The dropper is designed for liquid contents such as oils, tinctures or thin serums that flow freely through it. Thick gels and viscous serums flow very slowly or stop inside the dropper. For such textures, we recommend testing the dosing on a single bottle, or consider using a pump.
