Product description

Glass dropper bottle 50 ml is a ready-to-fill set for liquid cosmetic preparations dispensed drop by drop. It consists of a milky translucent glass bottle, a plastic dropper insert fitted into the neck, and a white screw cap. It is particularly suitable for facial and hair oils, serums, tinctures and essential oil blends in smaller packaging where precise dosing matters.

Matte milky glass diffuses light and the contents remain visible in outline, so you can see how much is left in the bottle. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or aqueous solutions, so the set is suitable for both anhydrous and aqueous formulations. The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity can be found with the product.

What the set offers

  • Drop-by-drop dispensing – the dropper in the neck releases the contents gradually, without pouring, which is practical for concentrated serums and essential oil blends where you work with small quantities.
  • Diffused light – milky glass diffuses light, but the bottle does not appear as dark as brown glass and the contents remain visible.
  • Material stability – glass does not let air through, does not absorb scents and does not react with the contents, making it suitable for blends that would alter a plastic bottle over time.
  • Easy closure – the cap screws on over the fitted dropper and seals the bottle for storage and transport.
  • Volume for smaller packages – 50 ml is a practical size for facial oils, serums and trial or gift packages that are used up within a reasonable time.

Filling and dispensing

The bottle is filled before fitting the dropper, ideally through a narrow funnel or from a beaker with a spout so that no contents remain on the thread. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Then press the dropper evenly into the neck all the way around and screw on the cap. When in use, tilt the bottle and the contents flow out drop by drop. Thin contents such as tinctures or light oils drip faster, thicker oils and serums more slowly. We therefore recommend testing the dispensing rate with the specific formulation before filling an entire batch.

Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil-based preparation shorten its stability and promote microbial growth.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for in standard filling, and this corresponds to the 50 ml designation. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dropper, which when pressed in occupies part of the neck, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The exact values of both volumes are listed in the product parameters.

Good to know

  • Aqueous contents – hydrolats, tonics and aqueous serums can be filled into the bottle, but require preservation as the contents come into contact with air each time the bottle is opened.
  • Essential oils and solvents – glass withstands them without restriction. The dropper and cap are plastic, so for blends with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents we recommend checking whether the contents alter their shape or seal over time.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The dropper is harder to clean after removal; when changing the contents it is more reliable to replace it with a new one.
  • Labelling – the label adheres to a dry and degreased surface, ideally before fitting the dropper and cap.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made packaging-plus-closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. With a custom combination we recommend checking the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling, the dropper and cap are separated before disposal and go into plastic recycling.

The set is not approved for contact with food. It is intended for cosmetic preparations. For home-made oils, syrups or herbal extracts choose packaging with food-contact certification.

Frequently asked questions

Does the milky glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Partially – matte milky glass diffuses light but does not absorb it like dark glass. For everyday facial oils, serums and essential oil blends stored away from direct sunlight, this is sufficient in practice. For contents sensitive to light, such as oils prone to oxidation, we recommend storage in the dark or choosing dark glass.
How is the 50 ml glass dropper bottle filled?
The bottle is filled before fitting the dropper, through a narrow funnel or from a container with a spout, to the nominal volume of 50 ml. Once filled, the dropper is pressed evenly into the neck all the way around and the cap is screwed on. Filling to the brim is not recommended; the reserve in the neck is needed for the dropper and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils and their blends?
Yes, the glass bottle is suitable for essential oil blends; glass does not react with them and does not let the scent through. The dropper and cap are plastic, so for pure essential oils or blends with a very high proportion we recommend testing whether the plastic parts retain their shape and seal over time.
Can the glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. The dropper is harder to clean after removal from the neck and may not seal as well on second insertion, so when refilling it is more reliable to use a new dropper and cap.
Is the glass dropper bottle also suitable for aqueous serums and tonics?
Yes, aqueous serums, hydrolats and tonics can also be filled into the bottle; glass does not react with them. Aqueous preparations must, however, be reliably preserved, as the contents come into contact with air each time the bottle is opened. For tonics applied over a wider area, a spray pump is more practical than a dropper.
Is the 50 ml glass dropper bottle suitable for food?
No, this set is not approved for contact with food. The bottle, dropper and cap are declared suitable for cosmetic products and their intended use corresponds to this. For home-made oils, syrups or herbal extracts it is necessary to choose packaging that has food-contact certification.
