Product description

Glass bottle, vial, white cap with dropper, 15 ml is a ready-made set for drop-by-drop dispensing. It consists of a brown glass vial with a nominal volume of 15 ml, a transparent plastic dropper inserted into the neck, and a white screw cap. Brown glass filters light, making this set especially suitable for contents sensitive to light – essential oils and fragrance blends, facial and hair oils, oil serums, tinctures and concentrates of active ingredients. The small volume is also practical for samples, test batches and travel packaging.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The declaration of conformity and parameters of individual components are listed on the product page.

How the set works

  • Glass vial – brown glass is chemically stable and does not react with essential oils, alcohol or vegetable oils. It is suitable for aqueous, alcoholic and oily contents.
  • Dropper – the polypropylene (PP) dropper is pressed into the neck and seals it from the inside. The contents flow out only when the bottle is tilted, drop by drop, allowing precise dispensing without spilling and with limited air access to the contents.
  • Cap – the white polyethylene (PE) cap with 18/410 thread screws onto the neck over the dropper and seals the set.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for standard filling – for this vial, 15 ml. Total volume to the rim is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger; the exact value can be found in the parameters. The difference between them is the allowance for the dropper, which takes up part of the neck when inserted, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. It should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim – otherwise the contents will be pushed out when the dropper is inserted.

What the set is suitable for

  • Essential oils and fragrance blends – the dropper dispenses a precise amount into an aroma lamp, diffuser or into a formulation.
  • Oil serums and facial oils – thin to medium-density oils flow smoothly through the dropper; a single application dose is a few drops.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and the brown colour slows down the loss of efficacy of sensitive ingredients.
  • Samples and test batches – a small volume is sufficient when developing a formulation or testing a fragrance with a customer.
  • Liquid colorants and concentrates – anything that is added to a formulation drop by drop rather than by the millilitre.

Before first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Insert the dropper only after filling and once the neck has dried, otherwise it will not seat properly.

Good to know

  • Content consistency – the dropper is designed for thin to medium viscosity liquids. Thick serums thickened with gum, gels or emulsions flow from it slowly and unevenly; for such textures, a different type of closure with the same neck is more suitable.
  • Concentrated contents – polypropylene is resistant to common cosmetic ingredients. With concentrated essential oils, solvents and mixtures with a high alcohol content, we recommend verifying the dropper's behaviour and seal integrity with the specific formulation, especially for prolonged storage.
  • Glass and heat – do not pour hot contents into the vial and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Allow the heated phase to cool down before filling.
  • Repeated use – the bottle can be washed, disinfected and reused. The dropper is difficult to clean after oily contents; when changing the contents, it is more reliable to replace it with a new one.
  • Labelling – the smooth cylindrical surface of the vial is suitable for a label.
  • Food contact – the set is not declared for food contact; it is intended for cosmetic and technical use.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – glass goes into glass collection; the dropper and cap should be separated before disposal and go into plastics.

For transport, tighten the cap and carry the bottle upright, especially for contents that leak easily (thin oils, alcohol).

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass vial 15 ml protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass filters visible light and part of UV light, thereby slowing down the degradation of sensitive contents such as essential oils, unsaturated vegetable oils or tinctures. It does not provide complete protection – the vial should still be stored away from direct sunlight, but compared to clear glass the contents will remain stable for longer.
How much fits in the 15 ml vial with dropper?
The vial is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the rim. The total volume to the neck is larger, and this difference serves as the allowance for the dropper, which takes up part of the neck when inserted, and for the expansion of the contents. If you fill the bottle to the rim, some of the contents will be pushed out when the dropper is pressed in.
Is the vial with plastic dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, this set is commonly used for essential oils – glass does not react with them and the brown colour protects them from light. The dropper is made of polypropylene, which is resistant to common oils. With highly concentrated essential oils or blends containing solvents, we recommend checking after prolonged storage that the dropper has not softened and is still sealing properly.
Can the vial with dropper be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, allowed to dry and refilled. The dropper is difficult to clean after oils and fragrance blends and may retain the previous scent, so it is more reliable to replace it with a new one when changing the contents. The cap just needs to be washed.
Is the vial with dropper suitable for thick serums or gels?
Only to a limited extent. The dropper works reliably with thin to medium viscosity liquids such as oils, tinctures or aqueous serums without a thickener. Thick serums, gels and emulsions flow from it slowly and unevenly; for such textures it is better to choose a different type of closure for the same neck.
