Product description
Amber glass bottle with a dropper for precise dispensing of oil serums, facial oils and tinctures. The set combines a square pharmaceutical bottle with a volume of 90 ml and a black and gold dropper that fits on its neck. Amber glass filters light, so it suits contents that lose quality faster in light: vegetable oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, oils with vitamins, serums with retinol or extracts in the form of tinctures. With the dropper you take a few drops without tilting the bottle, so the contents are not exposed to air more than necessary.
The 90 ml volume suits longer use of a single product, for example a body or massage oil, a course of an oil serum or a larger batch of homemade tincture. The square shape stands firmly and is easy to hold when dispensing with one hand.
What the set includes
- Square pharmaceutical bottle – amber glass, with an 18 mm threaded neck. “Pharmaceutical bottle” refers to the shape of the bottle, not to a particular type of contents.
- Black and gold dropper – a glass tube, a squeezable silicone bulb and a black cap with a gold detail. The length of the dropper matches the height of the bottle, so the tip reaches close to the bottom and the contents can be used up almost completely.
Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity is given in the product parameters.
What it is suitable for
It works best with contents where drop-by-drop dispensing and protection from light matter:
- Oil serums and facial oils – applied in a small amount; the dropper dispenses precisely and reduces contact of the contents with air.
- Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – massage and aromatherapy blends, where amber glass slows changes in fragrance and colour.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the dropper makes it easy to add them to cosmetic products, for example a toner or a mask.
- Liquid active ingredients in the water phase – concentrates that are measured out by the drop when making your own cosmetics.
The set is not suitable for creams and thick emulsions, as the dropper will not draw them up. For such contents, choose a jar or a bottle with a pump.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 90 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume. If you fill the bottle higher, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted.
Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in oil-based contents encourages the growth of microorganisms, especially if the product does not contain a preservative.
Good to know
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let the hot oil phase cool down at least to room temperature before filling, otherwise the glass may crack. After thorough washing, the bottle can be reused. Replace the dropper whenever the bulb hardens, changes colour or stops sealing.
The silicone bulb of the dropper comes into contact with the contents only through vapours; in normal use it is not pressed into the liquid. For pure essential oils or other concentrated solvents, we recommend checking how the bulb behaves in your specific recipe.
The set is not intended for contact with food. For homemade oils or syrups, choose packaging with the relevant certificate.
Tighten the dropper by hand only. Overtightening does not make the closure seal better and may damage the thread or the seal, while loose tightening lets the contents escape when the bottle is turned upside down.
Closures with the same neck type, given in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination of the bottle and another closure, check the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation. After use, glass belongs in the glass recycling bin; separate the dropper from the bottle and sort it separately.
