Product description

This 30 ml glass medicine bottle with dropper is designed for filling and precisely dispensing liquid cosmetic preparations that are applied by the drop. The bottle is made of matte amber glass. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with facial oils, serums with active ingredients, essential oil blends or tinctures, whose stability is shortened by light. The black and silver dropper is supplied together with the bottle as a ready-made set, so you do not need to buy a closure separately or check whether it will fit the neck.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not declared for contact with food, so it is suitable for cosmetics, not for homemade oils or syrups.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial serums – water-based and oil-based serums that are dispensed as a few drops onto the palm or directly onto the skin.
  • Facial and hair oils – the dropper lets you take exactly as much as you need for the face or the hair ends.
  • Essential oil blends and aromatherapy concentrates – the dropper makes it easy to dispense them into a diffuser or a carrier oil.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – the glass is resistant to alcohol; we recommend checking how the dropper behaves with the specific contents.
  • Samples and test batches – the smaller volume is convenient when trying out a new formulation before you decide on a larger pack.

How to work with the set

The dropper consists of a glass tube, an aluminium collar with a thread and a black bulb for drawing up the contents. The length of the dropper matches the height of the bottle, so the tube reaches almost to the bottom and the contents can be drawn up even when the level is low. To dispense, squeeze the bulb, immerse the tube in the contents, release the bulb, and then squeeze it gently to release the required number of drops.

You can find closures with the same neck finish and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you combine the bottle with a different closure, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you can find it in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the dropper tube would get into an anhydrous oil or serum and could affect its stability. Proceed in the same way when reusing the packaging, as it can be refilled after thorough cleaning.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature well. Let the contents cool before filling and do not expose the bottle to direct heat. With alcohol extracts and blends with a high proportion of essential oils, keep an eye on the bulb and the dropper seal. The glass itself is resistant to these contents, but elastic and plastic parts may soften or change shape after longer contact with concentrated ingredients. Test compatibility with the finished preparation before you fill the whole batch.

After use, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.

The dropper returns to the contents after each application. Make sure the tube does not touch the skin or other surfaces, otherwise you introduce impurities into the serum or oil and, with water-based preparations, you increase the demands on preservation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the matte amber glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents. This helps extend the stability of oils and active ingredients that are sensitive to light, for example unrefined vegetable oils or essential oils. However, glass does not replace correct storage, so keep the bottle out of direct sunlight.
How much will fit into a 30 ml glass bottle with dropper?
The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The brimful volume is larger and you can find it in the parameters, but leave this reserve empty. When screwed in, the dropper tube pushes part of the contents upwards, and if the bottle were filled completely, the preparation would overflow or remain in the thread.
Can the glass bottle with dropper be reused?
Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection you can refill both the bottle and the dropper. Before each filling, wash them, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Check the bulb and the seal of the dropper. If they have softened or lost their elasticity, replace the dropper with a new one.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
The glass bottle and the glass tube of the dropper are resistant to essential oils and alcohol. The elastic and plastic parts of the dropper may change their properties after longer contact with concentrated ingredients, so we recommend testing how the dropper behaves with your specific blend before filling the whole batch.
Is the 30 ml glass bottle with dropper also suitable for water-based serums?
Yes, the bottle is suitable for both water-based and oil-based preparations, as glass does not react with the contents. With water-based serums, bear in mind that the dropper returns to the contents with every use. The preparation should therefore be adequately preserved and the tube should not touch the skin or hands.
Is the glass bottle with dropper suitable for food?
No, the set is not declared for contact with food. The bottle and the dropper are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Use them for serums, oils, tinctures and other cosmetic preparations, not for edible oils, syrups or herbal infusions intended for consumption.
