Product description

A matte amber glass medicine bottle with a volume of 30 ml and a white glossy dropper makes a ready-to-use set for filling and dispensing facial serums, oil concentrates and essential oil blends. The amber glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, the matte surface reduces glare, and the dropper lets you measure out exactly as much as you need. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and oil concentrates – 30 ml is a common serum size, the dropper dispenses drop by drop, and the contents do not spill out unnecessarily.
  • Essential oil blends – aromatherapy blends and perfume concentrates are dispensed by the drop, and the amber glass slows their degradation by light.
  • Cosmetic tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the dropper is suitable for adding precise amounts to creams or toners.
  • Samples and small batches – when testing formulations, 30 ml can be filled without wasting much raw material, and the medicine bottles are easy to label clearly.

How the set works

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a white glossy plastic closure with a thread, and a silicone bulb that draws the contents up and squeezes them out. The length of the dropper matches the height of the medicine bottle. Both the bottle and the dropper have an 18/410 neck finish, so the dropper can be replaced at any time with another closure that has the same neck type. You can find closures with this neck and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the medicine bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the medicine bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

When filling, leave free space in the neck for the dropper tube. An overfilled medicine bottle overflows when the dropper is screwed in, and the contents get onto the thread, where they become sticky and make opening difficult.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the medicine bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let them dry completely. Any remaining water would bring moisture into an oil serum.
  • Glass and heat – do not pour hot phases into the medicine bottle. Let the formulation cool down first, because a sudden change in temperature can damage the glass.
  • Dropper and more demanding contents – with concentrated essential oils or solvents, check in advance how the silicone bulb and the plastic closure behave with the specific blend, especially during longer storage.
  • Reuse – both the glass and the dropper can be used again after thorough cleaning and disinfection. When changing the contents, make sure that no residues of the previous blend remain in the tube and the bulb.
  • Food contact – the set is intended for cosmetics. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a food contact certificate, so this set is not recommended for homemade oils or syrups.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling. Separate the dropper before disposal, because it combines glass, plastic and silicone.

The dropper is intended primarily for dispensing. When transporting or shipping filled medicine bottles, check the tightness of the set with your formulation and transport the medicine bottle in an upright position.

Frequently asked questions

Does a matte amber medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass absorbs part of the light and thus slows the degradation of contents that are sensitive to it. The matte surface also reduces glare and looks subtle on a shelf. For oils, serums with antioxidants or essential oil blends, it is a better choice than clear glass, which lets light through without restriction.
How much actually fits into a 30 ml medicine bottle?
The medicine bottle is designed for filling to 30 ml, but it physically holds more. You can find the total volume to the brim in the product parameters. The difference between these values is a reserve for the dropper tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill the medicine bottle to the brim, the contents overflow when the dropper is screwed in.
Is the dropper suitable for oil serums and essential oils?
For common oil serums and diluted blends, yes. The glass tube does not react with the contents and dispenses precisely drop by drop. With concentrated essential oils or solvents, test in advance how the silicone bulb behaves during longer contact with the blend. The behaviour depends on the specific composition, so check it with every new formulation.
Can the medicine bottle with the dropper be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the dropper withstand repeated cleaning and disinfection. Wash the medicine bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let it dry. Rinse the dropper several times by drawing clean alcohol into the tube and squeezing it out, so that no residues of the previous contents remain in the bulb.
Is this set also suitable for food, for example oil or syrup?
No, the set is intended for cosmetic products. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a food contact certificate, so they are not recommended for homemade oils, syrups or herbal extracts for consumption. The set is declared suitable for cosmetic serums, tinctures and essential oil blends.
What other closure fits this medicine bottle instead of the dropper?
Any closure with an 18/410 thread. The bottle has a standard neck, so the dropper can be replaced with a cap or another closure with the same thread type from the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
