Product description

The matte amber glass medicine bottle with a treatment pump, 30 ml, is a ready-made set for facial and body oils, oil serums, beard oils, cuticle oils and other anhydrous products that are dispensed in small amounts. Matte amber glass filters light, so oils sensitive to oxidation keep better in it, for example cold-pressed oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, or macerated oils. The black treatment pump with an 18/410 neck finish dispenses a small dose with each press, so the oil does not spill and you do not have to pour it into your palm from the neck. The clear overcap protects the pump head from dust and from being pressed accidentally in a bag.

The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Oil serums and facial oils – the 30 ml volume corresponds to the usual size of facial serums, and the small dose allows precise application to the face, neck and décolleté.
  • Beard oils and hair oils – a few presses are enough for the hair ends or the beard, with no risk of overdosing.
  • Blends of carrier and essential oils – dark glass protects aromatic blends from light, but with a higher proportion of essential oils the plastic parts of the pump need to be tested with your specific formulation (see below).
  • Oil-based nail and cuticle conditioners – the medicine bottle is comfortable to hold in the hand and the dose is appropriate for a single treatment.

The treatment pump is intended for liquid anhydrous products. The tube and valve are designed for the low viscosity of oils, so we do not recommend this type of pump for thicker emulsions, creams or products containing particles.

How to use the set

Fill the bottle with oil and screw the pump onto the neck. After the first few presses the tube fills and the pump starts to dispense the product. One press corresponds to approximately 0.18 ml. For larger areas, repeat the dose. After use, put the clear overcap back on the head.

The tube of the pump is longer than the bottle. Before the first filling, shorten it so that it reaches the bottom and does not bend after screwing on. A tube that is too short would leave part of the oil unused.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled up to the neck, the oil would overflow when the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

  • Preparation before the first filling – we recommend washing the bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving it to dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with ethanol and dry it, so that no water remains in the tube.
  • Refilling – glass withstands repeated washing without change. Before filling with new oil, rinse the pump with clean oil or ethanol. A clogged valve after longer use is easier to replace than to clean.
  • Plastic and essential oils – both the pump and the overcap are plastic, and the overcap is made of polystyrene. For blends with a higher proportion of essential oils, citrus essential oils or formulations with solvents, we recommend testing beforehand whether the plastic parts soften or lose their clarity.
  • Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with hot oil straight after heating. Let the contents cool to room temperature, which prevents the glass from cracking and the plastic parts from softening.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs with glass, the pump and overcap with plastics. Separate the components before disposal and rinse the bottle.

The set is certified only for contact with cosmetics. Do not use it for homemade oils, syrups or other foods, as it is not approved for that purpose.

You can find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of a bottle with a closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the 30 ml bottle with a treatment pump hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml. Physically a little more fits into it, but this space is a reserve for the body of the pump and the tube, which take up part of the neck once screwed on. If filled to the brim, the oil would overflow when the pump is fitted.
Does matte amber glass protect oil from light?
Yes, amber glass reduces the amount of light passing through, so oils sensitive to oxidation keep better in it than in clear glass. Protection from light does not replace an antioxidant in the formulation or storage out of direct sunlight; it only reduces one of the risk factors.
Is the treatment pump suitable for thick serums or creams?
No, the treatment pump is intended for liquid oils and thin oil serums. The tube and valve are designed for low viscosity. The pump will not draw up thicker emulsions, butters or products with fine particles, or it will clog. For creams and thick serums, choose a different type of closure with a pump.
How much oil does the pump dispense with one press?
One press dispenses approximately 0.18 ml of oil. One to two doses are usually enough to apply a serum to the face; for the body or hair, repeat the dose as needed. The exact amount may differ slightly depending on the viscosity of the oil and how far the head is pressed.
Can the bottle with a treatment pump be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be washed, disinfected with ethanol and refilled without limit. Before a new filling, rinse the pump with clean oil or ethanol and leave it to dry. If the pump stops drawing up the product, you only need to replace the pump and can keep using the bottle.
Can the plastic parts of the pump withstand essential oils?
With common carrier oils containing a low proportion of essential oils, no problem arises. Both the pump and the clear overcap are plastic, and the overcap is made of polystyrene. For concentrated blends, citrus essential oils or formulations with solvents, we recommend testing beforehand whether the plastic softens, changes colour or loses its clarity.
