Product description

The amber PET bottle, 150 ml, with a black pump is intended for products that are dispensed in doses: liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel, body or face lotion, cleansing gel. One press releases approximately 1 ml of the contents. The bottle does not need to be opened during use, and the contents do not come into contact with your fingers. Amber plastic reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, and the bottle is light and unbreakable, so it suits the bathroom, travel and retail, where the weight or breakage risk of glass would be a drawback.

Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Liquid soap and cleansing gels – the pump measures out the same amount every time, the packaging stays closed and nothing drips by the sink.
  • Shampoos and shower gels – the 150 ml volume suits a travel pack, a customer sample or a smaller home-made batch.
  • Body and face lotions – the pump draws up lighter emulsions without difficulty. Thicker creams do not flow easily through the tube, so we recommend checking suitability on a small quantity.
  • Massage and body oils – try out the dose beforehand, as oil flows out of the pump faster than gel.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume, that is, the physical volume up to the neck, is higher. The space above the nominal level is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump. Fill only up to the nominal volume. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents overflow through the neck when the pump is screwed on and soil the thread.

The pump tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before screwing the pump on for the first time, trim the tube with an angled cut so that it just touches the bottom. The pump then draws up the contents right to the end and does not take in air with the last doses.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or in the body of the pump would introduce moisture into the product that you did not account for in the formulation.

The packaging withstands repeated use. When changing the contents, pump warm water with a small amount of cleaning product through the pump several times, then clean water, and leave it to dry. Otherwise, residues of the previous product, especially emulsions, cling to the tube and spoil the new contents.

Fill emulsions and gels only after they have cooled, as PET is not intended for hot filling. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or with alcohol, we recommend checking beforehand whether the appearance of the plastic or the scent of the contents changes after several weeks.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the pump has a certificate for direct contact with food; the bottle does not. Therefore, do not use this set for home-made syrups, cooking oils or infusions.

The pump has a 24/410 neck finish, the same as the bottle. Closures for this neck type, as well as ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

For recycling, separate the bottle and the pump. The bottle is made of PET and the pump of polypropylene, and each material belongs in a different recycling stream.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber tint of the PET reduces the amount of light reaching the contents. It is therefore suitable for emulsions with vegetable oils, products with vitamins and anything that changes colour or scent over time in clear packaging. Amber plastic only weakens the light, so still protect the packaging from direct sunlight.
Can the 150 ml bottle be filled to the brim?
No, it is filled up to the nominal volume of 150 ml. The space above this level is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump. If it is filled up to the neck, the contents overflow when the pump is screwed on, soil the thread, and the pump then does not seal as it should.
How thick a product can the pump handle?
The pump reliably dispenses liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel, oils and lighter body or face lotion. Thick creams and butters either do not pass through the tube or pass only with great effort, and the pump takes in air. For emulsions at the limit, we recommend filling a small quantity and testing whether the pump delivers a full dose even after several presses in a row.
Can the plastic bottle with a pump be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump are designed for repeated filling. Once empty, wash the bottle, pump warm water with a cleaning product and then clean water through the pump, disinfect both parts with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave them to dry. Replace the pump when it stops sealing after cleaning or when residues of the old contents remain in it.
Is the plastic bottle with a pump suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. Only the black pump has a certificate for direct contact with food; the amber bottle does not, so the whole set should not be used for syrups, cooking oils or herbal infusions. Both parts are declared suitable for cosmetics.
Can I fill the PET bottle with oil containing essential oils?
Yes, vegetable oils and common massage blends can be filled into a PET bottle. With a higher concentration of essential oils or with products containing a larger proportion of alcohol, we recommend leaving the filled packaging to stand for several weeks and watching whether the appearance of the plastic or the scent of the contents changes. A specific formulation always behaves in its own way in plastic packaging.
