Product description

The amber plastic bottle with a volume of 150 ml and the white smooth cap with inner dropper form a ready-to-use set for filling liquid cosmetic products. Amber PET reduces light exposure, so the set is suitable for contents that are sensitive to light: facial and body oils, massage oils, toners, liquid serums or hair oils.

The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate especially for bathroom products, for travel or for sales where the packaging is sent by post. The cap is made of PP and screws onto a 24/410 neck finish. Both components have a declared suitability for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity in the parameters. The set is not approved for contact with food and is intended for cosmetics, so it is not suitable for food products, homemade syrups or cooking oils.

What the set is suitable for

  • Oils and oil serums – the dark plastic limits light penetration.
  • Toners and facial lotions – water-based products with a lower viscosity that are applied to the palm or onto a cotton pad.
  • Massage and body oils – a volume of 150 ml is sufficient for longer use.
  • Liquid hair products – oils for hair ends and leave-in treatments with a liquid consistency.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the cap with inner dropper and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, never to the brim. Otherwise the contents are pushed out when the cap is screwed on and the neck remains greasy.

When filling oils and serums, use a funnel or a filling bottle with a narrow tip. The 24/410 neck finish is relatively narrow, and oil running down the outside makes it harder to apply the label later.

Fill the finished product only after it has cooled. The bottle must be protected from heat, as warm contents can deform the wall and reduce the tightness of the closure.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or in the cap would introduce moisture into an anhydrous product and put unnecessary strain on its preservation.

After washing, the set can be used repeatedly. Rinse the cap with inner dropper separately, as oil residues settle in it and would change the fragrance of the new contents at the next filling.

The bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For undiluted essential oils, products with a high proportion of alcohol or solvents, check how the bottle behaves by filling a test bottle and watch for any change in shape, cloudiness of the wall or change in fragrance.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure can be found in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

After use, dispose of the bottle in separate plastic waste collection as PET and the cap as PP. Separate them before disposal and rinse the bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber tint of the plastic reduces the passage of light and slows the changes that light causes in oils and in products with sensitive active ingredients. The tint does not block light completely, so store the bottle away from direct sunlight, in a dry environment and at a temperature of 5–30 °C.
Is the plastic bottle with a cap with inner dropper suitable for food?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. The bottle and the cap have a declared suitability only for cosmetic products. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions, choose packaging whose parameters state that it is suitable for food contact.
How many millilitres actually fit into the 150 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, that is 150 ml. The physical volume up to the brim is larger and you will find it in the parameters, but the difference serves as a reserve for the cap with inner dropper and for the expansion of the contents. Filling up to the neck causes overflow when the cap is screwed on and soiling of the thread.
Can I fill the PET bottle with a product containing essential oils or alcohol?
The bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals, so for undiluted essential oils and products with a high proportion of alcohol or solvents, run a test with one bottle before filling the whole batch. After several weeks, check the shape, the transparency of the wall and the fragrance of the contents.
