Product description

The amber 150 ml PET bottle with a clear mini trigger sprayer is a ready-to-use packaging solution for thin cosmetic products that are applied as a spray. The amber tint of the plastic reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, so it is particularly suitable for hydrosols, tonics, and hair or body sprays, whose fragrance and colour change more quickly in light. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. The packaging is light and does not break if dropped. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; it does not have food-contact approval.

What it is suitable for

  • Hydrosols and facial tonics – the sprayer disperses thin water-based liquids into a fine mist. One press releases approximately 0.3 ml, and the contents are applied evenly without dripping.
  • Hair and body sprays – refreshing sprays with a water or alcohol base and low-viscosity leave-in hair sprays.
  • Alcohol solutions – disinfectant sprays for hands or work surfaces. Cold process soap makers often fill this type of bottle with isopropyl alcohol, which they spray on the surface of the soap after pouring it into the mould to prevent soda ash.
  • Water while you work – moistening the work surface, moulds or decorative materials.

Filling and using the sprayer

The bottle has a nominal volume of 150 ml, which is the volume it is designed to hold when filled normally. The total volume to the brim is larger. The difference between the two is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill it to the nominal volume, not to the neck, otherwise the contents will be pushed out when you screw on the sprayer.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, rinse them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and leave them to dry completely. While rinsing, press the sprayer several times so that the disinfectant also reaches the tube and the nozzle.

When assembling, check that the tube reaches just above the bottom of the bottle and does not kink. If it is longer, shorten it with a diagonal cut. After screwing on the sprayer, tighten the collar by hand and use the first presses to draw the liquid into the tube until the sprayer starts to spray. Before transport or dispatch to a customer, we recommend a leak test with the bottle lying on its side.

Good to know

The mini trigger sprayer is designed for thin liquids. Oils, emulsions and thicker solutions are not dispersed into a mist by it; they come out in a stream or the sprayer stops dispensing. For such products, choose a bottle with a pump.

PET withstands common water-based and alcohol-based cosmetic products. With a high proportion of essential oils, or with solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the bottle and the sprayer in advance on a small quantity and watching for a short time whether the plastic turns cloudy or softens. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents; let solutions cool down first.

The packaging is not approved for contact with food. Do not fill it with homemade oils, syrups or infusions intended for consumption.

Both the bottle and the sprayer can be used repeatedly. After emptying, wash the bottle and spray clean water through the sprayer so that no product residues remain in the tube and nozzle that could dry out later. The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, so it can also be combined with another closure with the same neck type from the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and the dispensing with the specific formulation. PET and PP are both recyclable plastics; before disposal, separate the sprayer from the bottle and rinse both parts.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber PET bottle with a sprayer protect the contents from light?
Partially, yes. The amber tint of the plastic reduces the amount of light that reaches the contents. For hydrosols, tonics with plant extracts or sprays with essential oils, this is an advantage over clear plastic. However, tinted plastic does not provide complete protection from light, so store the products away from direct sunlight and in a cool place.
Can I fill the 150 ml bottle with more than 150 ml?
Physically yes, because the total volume to the brim is larger than the nominal volume, but this is not normal filling practice. The reserve above the nominal volume is intended for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is overfilled, part of the contents is pushed out when you screw on the sprayer, and the bottle may leak.
Is the mini trigger sprayer suitable for oils?
No, the mini trigger sprayer disperses only thin liquids, such as hydrosols, tonics or alcohol solutions, into a mist. Vegetable oils, oil serums and emulsions come out in a stream or the sprayer stops dispensing after a short time. For oil-based products, choose a bottle with a pump.
Can I put alcohol or disinfectant in the PET bottle with a sprayer?
Yes, common alcohol solutions, water-alcohol tonics and isopropyl alcohol are standard contents for a PET bottle with a PP sprayer. For solutions with a high proportion of essential oils or with other solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the packaging on a small quantity first, because the packaging should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals.
How do I clean the bottle with a sprayer, and can it be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the sprayer are designed for repeated use. Wash the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid, spray clean water through the sprayer and then ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Leave both parts to dry completely before adding a new product. Dried residues in the nozzle are harder to remove, so clean the sprayer immediately after emptying.
Is the bottle with a sprayer suitable for food?
No, this set does not have food-contact approval; neither the bottle nor the sprayer is approved for food use. The packaging is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, so it is suitable for hydrosols, tonics, sprays and disinfectant solutions. For olive oil, syrups or vinegar in a spray, choose packaging with food-contact approval.
