Product description

A ready-made set of a 100 ml brown plastic bottle with a black sprayer and a glossy gold ring is intended for cosmetics applied by spraying – facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, hair and body sprays, or light oil sprays. The brown colour of the bottle dampens light and thus helps protect contents sensitive to it. The PET bottle is lightweight and will not break if dropped, so it is well suited for a handbag, for travel, and for the work table in a salon.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity and technical documentation are available with the product. It is not intended for food use.

Why choose this set

  • Protection of contents from light – brown plastic lets through less light than clear plastic, which you will appreciate with hydrosols, toners with plant extracts, or sprays with essential oils, which lose their scent and stability faster in light.
  • Fine sprayer with a small dose – the mechanical sprayer releases a small amount of liquid as a fine mist with a single press, so the product is applied evenly and without dripping.
  • Cohesive appearance – the combination of the brown bottle, black head, and glossy gold ring looks finished even without a label, which producers of small batches and gift packaging will appreciate.
  • Lightweight and durable material – PET will not break if dropped and the whole set is light, making it suitable even for sending by post.
  • Common thread type – the 24/410 thread is among the widely used ones, which makes it easier to replace the closure or add further pieces in the same design.

What products the set is suitable for

The sprayer works reliably with low-viscosity liquids. We therefore recommend this set mainly for:

  • facial toners and hydrosols (rose, lavender, chamomile, and others),
  • refreshing and hydrating mists for the face and body,
  • hair sprays – for example with sea salt, with a hydrosol, or with a low oil content,
  • light oil sprays for hair and body with a dry oil base,
  • deodorant sprays on a water or alcohol base,
  • aromatic sprays for the room or for textiles.

The sprayer will not atomise thicker emulsions, creams, gels, or syrupy serums – for these a bottle with a dispenser or a jar is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling – in this case 100 ml. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the sprayer tube, for the air above the surface, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim; if overfilled, the contents may overflow when the sprayer is screwed on.

After screwing the sprayer on for the first time, press the head several times “empty” over a sink – the tube must first fill with liquid, and only then does the sprayer dispense evenly. Proceed the same way after each longer period of disuse.

What is good to know before filling

Preparing the packaging. Before first use, wash the bottle and the sprayer, rinse them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube could dilute the first doses or compromise the preservation of the product.

Compatibility with the contents. For sprays with a higher content of essential oils, citrus terpenes, or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation – some ingredients may, on prolonged contact, cloud or soften the plastic. We recommend the same test for the sprayer too, since its seal and tube come into contact with the contents at every press.

Temperature. Do not fill hot mixtures into the PET bottle. Let the contents cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may deform.

Gold ring. The glossy ring is aluminium. When cleaning, do not scrub it with abrasive agents and do not leave it submerged in alcohol for longer periods, so that it keeps its shine.

Reuse. The set can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Before the next filling, check whether the sprayer dispenses evenly and whether the thread seals.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and belongs in plastic waste. Unscrew the sprayer before disposal, as it combines plastic with an aluminium ring.

When transporting a filled bottle in luggage, place it in a resealable bag or replace the sprayer for travel with a cap with the same thread.

Closures and combinations

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made packaging + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade offer. For your own combination, we always recommend verifying the tightness, the dispensing, and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a brown plastic bottle protect the contents from light as well as brown glass?
A brown PET bottle dampens light significantly better than clear plastic, but glass has the additional advantage of being impermeable to air and solvents. For toners, hydrosols, and sprays that are used up within a few weeks, brown plastic is fully sufficient. The advantages are lower weight and the fact that it will not break if dropped.
How many doses does a 100 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer provide?
From a full bottle you will get approximately 800 doses. One press of the sprayer releases roughly 0.12 ml of liquid as a fine mist, so a facial toner or mist will last several weeks with normal use. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim, so that the contents do not overflow when the head is screwed on.
Is the mechanical sprayer suitable for an oil spray?
Yes, but only for light, low-viscosity oils or mixtures with a low oil content. Thick oils, such as castor oil, are not carried into a mist by the sprayer and the nozzle becomes clogged. For oil sprays, dry oils and esters work well; we recommend testing the behaviour of the specific mixture on a small amount.
Can I fill a spray with alcohol into the brown PET bottle?
Yes, water-alcohol solutions, including deodorant or refreshing sprays, are a common use for PET bottles. It is rather preparations with a high content of essential oils or citrus terpenes that should be verified, as they may cloud the plastic over time. In that case it is advisable to carry out a compatibility test on one piece.
How to clean the sprayer when it stops spraying?
Unscrew the head, rinse it and the tube with warm water, and press empty several times until clean water comes out of the nozzle. The cause is usually dried product residue in the nozzle, for which a brief soaking of the nozzle in warm water helps. Before the next filling, let all parts dry completely.
