Product description

The amber 100 ml PET bottle with a pump with a 24/410 neck finish is intended for filling liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products that are dispensed one press at a time. The amber colour of the plastic reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with oils and serums containing light-sensitive active ingredients. The plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, so the bottle holds up in the bathroom, in a handbag and when shipped to customers.

The pump has a clear PP body and a glossy silver collar that complements the amber bottle in colour. One press dispenses approximately 0.65 ml of product. It is therefore suitable wherever a small amount is taken repeatedly without unscrewing: body lotion, face serum, hair oil or liquid soap in a small pack. The whole set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not declared for contact with food.

What it is suited for

  • Body and face lotions – thinner emulsions pass through the pump tube, and one dose corresponds to the usual amount for the hands or face.
  • Serums and light fluids – dispensing one press at a time prevents waste of the more expensive contents, and the product does not come into contact with your fingers or the air in an open bottle.
  • Face and hair oils – the oil is applied from the pump without running down the neck, and 100 ml will last for a fairly long time.
  • Liquid soaps and cleansing gels – in a smaller pack as a sample, a travel version or an addition to a larger retail format.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference forms a reserve for the tube and the lower part of the pump, which raise the liquid level once screwed on. It also leaves room for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If it were filled up to the neck, part of the contents would overflow after the pump is fitted.

The pump tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with an angled cut so that it reaches just above the bottom without bending. The pump then draws out the contents almost to the end, and no unnecessary residue remains in it.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Pump clean water through the pump several times and then pump it empty until the remaining water has come out of the tube. After filling and screwing on the pump, it is normal for the first presses to dispense nothing until the tube has filled with the product.

The plastic is not intended for hot filling. Emulsions, gels and soaps are filled into the bottle only after they have cooled to room temperature. The pump will not draw up thick creams, butters and products with larger particles, or it will become clogged.

Do not expose the bottle or the pump to aggressive chemicals. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking in advance how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.

The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, so it can also be combined with other closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your formulation. Both parts can be reused after washing. The bottle is made of PET and is recycled separately. The pump combines plastic and aluminium, so it is separated from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the plastic limits the passage of light to the contents and thus slows its effect on sensitive ingredients. For formulations with oils, vitamins or plant extracts, this is an advantage over clear packaging. The packaging does not ensure complete darkness, so the finished product should still be kept out of direct sunlight.
How thick a product can a 24/410 plastic pump handle?
The pump is intended for liquid and medium-viscosity products that pass through the tube and the head: lotions, serums, oils, liquid soaps and light gels. It will not draw up thick creams, butters and products with scrub particles, or it will gradually become clogged. For borderline viscosity, we recommend testing the behaviour on a single unit before filling a larger quantity.
How much product goes into a bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml?
Fill it up to the nominal volume, that is, approximately 100 ml. The bottle is not filled to the brim. The free space above the liquid level is left for the tube and the lower part of the pump, which raise the liquid level once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents in warm conditions. You can find the brimful volume in the product parameters.
Can the plastic bottle with a pump be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump can be reused. Wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, rinse it and disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Pump clean warm water through the pump several times and then pump it empty until the residues have come out of the tube. Leave both parts to dry completely before the next filling. When switching from an oil to a water-based product, bear in mind that residues in the mechanism are harder to remove.
Is the plastic bottle with a pump also suitable for food?
No, this set is declared for contact with cosmetic products and is not declared for contact with food. It is suited for lotions, serums, oils and liquid soaps. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions intended for consumption, choose packaging with a certificate for contact with food.
