Amber Plastic Bottle, Silver Pump, 150 ml

An amber PET bottle with a capacity of 150 ml and a pump with a 24/410 neck finish make up a ready-to-use set for filling liquid and slightly thicker cosmetic products. The amber tint of the plastic reduces light exposure, so the bottle suits contents that are damaged by light, such as vegetable oils, emulsions with active ingredients or herbal macerated oils. PET is lightweight and does not shatter when dropped, so the bottle holds up well in the bathroom, by the washbasin and in a travel bag. The pump dispenses the contents when you press the head, with no need to unscrew anything, which makes hygienic dispensing of body lotion, liquid soap, shampoo or facial emulsion easier. The entire set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

How the set works

The pump has a clear head and a glossy silver collar that contrasts with the amber body of the bottle. A dip tube reaches down into the bottle and draws up the contents with each press. One press dispenses approximately 0.65 ml.

The pump works best with liquid and slightly thicker contents. Thick creams, body butters or high-viscosity gels can clog the dip tube and the mechanism. Check the consistency on a small sample before you fill an entire batch.

What the set is suitable for

• Body lotion and lighter creams – dispensing saves product and keeps fingers out of the bottle, which reduces the risk of contaminating the emulsion.
• Liquid soap, cleansing gel, shampoo – a volume of 150 ml lasts several weeks by the washbasin or in the shower, and PET does not shatter when dropped.
• Massage and body oils – the amber plastic protects oils from light, and the pump makes application easier without spills.
• Facial emulsions and serums – with lighter emulsions, the pump delivers a measured amount for one application.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is intended to hold when filled normally. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck, and it is larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Water residue in the bottle or the dip tube could dilute the contents and, in emulsions, put strain on the preservative system.

PET does not tolerate high temperatures. Allow hot emulsions or oils heated while melting butters to cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may deform. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend testing how the plastic and the pump seal behave on a sample. Some ingredients can damage the plastic or change its appearance.

The set can be reused. Once empty, wash and disinfect the bottle in the same way as before the first filling. Rinse the pump with warm water by pressing the head several times with the dip tube submerged in water and then pumping it empty until no remaining contents come out. The mechanism must be dry before refilling.

The bottle is made of PET, which is commonly recycled. The pump combines plastic and aluminium, so unscrew it before disposal and discard it separately from the bottle.
