The glass dropper bottle can, with proper handling, be safely reused. Before every new filling it is necessary to clean the packaging thoroughly and rinse it, then disinfect it with a suitable agent, for example with isopropyl alcohol or denatured plant ethanol. Only after the alcohol has completely dried and evaporated is the bottle ready for the next filling. In the case of significantly different types of contents (for example changing from an aromatic oil to a sensitive facial serum) it is recommended to use the packaging rather for similar formulations in order to minimise the risk of residual fragrance or active substances.

Before repeated use, it is advisable to empty the contents thoroughly, rinse the packaging with warm water and a mild cleaning agent and then rinse several times with clean water so that no detergent residues remain. After washing, we recommend disinfecting the inner surface of the bottle with alcohol – for example with the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant. After disinfection, leave the packaging to dry freely with the neck facing down on a clean surface to prevent contamination by dust and dirt.

When selecting a closure or dispenser it is important to be guided by the type of neck and the intended use of the product. For oil-based and highly concentrated preparations, droppers are practical, while for aqueous solutions fine spray heads or classic screw caps are suitable. Nevertheless, we always recommend trying your own trial batch – verifying whether the dosing matches the consistency of your formulation and whether the closure seals reliably during storage and transport.

If you decide not to reuse the dropper bottle, we recommend recycling it according to the material type stated in the product parameters. After emptying the contents and giving it a basic rinse, place the glass part in the glass container in accordance with local waste-sorting rules. The closure or dispenser (if made of plastic or a combination of materials) should be sorted separately according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and the markings on the plastic components. Before recycling, it is advisable to remove labels, if this can be done easily, in order to simplify the recycling process. In this way you minimise waste and support the reuse of raw materials.
