FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this plastic bottle suitable for repeated use?

Yes, the packaging can be reused with proper handling, provided its condition shows no visible damage. For every new filling, however, it is necessary first to clean the bottle and dosing pump thoroughly and then disinfect them, for example using the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. This minimises the risk of microbial contamination and undesired changes in the fragrance, colour or stability of the new product.

How should I correctly clean and disinfect the bottle with pump before the next filling?

After the contents have been used up, we recommend first thoroughly rinsing the bottle with lukewarm water and, depending on the type of the previous product, using a suitable cleaner (e.g. a mild detergent). The pump should be flushed several times with clean water to remove product residues from the dosing mechanism. Afterwards, all parts must be disinfected using an alcohol solution, for example IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or 96% plant ethanol, and allowed to dry completely at room temperature in a clean and protected place.

Is the plastic material of this bottle resistant to high temperatures or boiling?

Plastic packaging of this type is not intended to be exposed to high temperatures or boiling. When in contact with hot water or during long-term heating, deformation of the bottle and the pump mechanism can occur and sealing performance can deteriorate. The packaging is not suitable for washing in a dishwasher or for thermal sterilisation processes. For hygienic preparation before the next filling, we recommend rather mechanical cleaning with lukewarm water followed by disinfection with an alcohol-based product according to the recommendations in the other answers.

How can I dispose of and recycle this bottle in an environmentally friendly way after it has reached the end of its life?

If you decide not to use the packaging any further, we recommend first emptying it completely and removing any remaining product. Then proceed according to the material labelling and the recommendations in the parameter table at the product on the Handymade.sk website. According to the stated packaging material, place it in the appropriate separated waste stream (e.g. plastic container). The pump mechanism may consist of several types of plastics, so it is advisable to follow the instructions of the local waste collection. In this way, you support recycling of the material and reduce the amount of mixed waste.
