Packaging and closure combinations that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – checking the sealing, the dosing mode and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with your specific formulation (viscosity, oil content, alcohol or active ingredients).

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this glass bottle suitable also for thicker emulsions or only for thin liquids?

The bottle with dispenser is primarily intended for liquid and lighter emulsion formulations that can be smoothly expelled through the pump. For thicker creams or very viscous preparations, we always recommend performing a dosing test on a small sample of the product and, depending on the result, possibly choosing a different type of packaging (for example a jar or a dispensing bottle with a different mechanism).

Can I use this bottle repeatedly for different cosmetic products?

The glass packaging can be used repeatedly if hygienic principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the dosing mechanism must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol, for example with the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after complete drying is it appropriate to refill the packaging in order to minimize the risk of microbial contamination and impact on the stability of the new product.

How should I properly clean this bottle before first use or before refilling it?

Before filling, we recommend mechanically rinsing the bottle with a suitable cleaning agent, rinsing thoroughly with drinking water or, if necessary, demineralized water and, after drying, disinfecting it. Disinfection can be performed, for example, using the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. After applying the alcohol, allow the packaging to air out completely and dry so that no undesired dilution or impact on your formulation occurs.

How can I dispose of and recycle the glass bottle in an environmentally friendly way after it has reached the end of its life?

If you decide not to use the packaging further, we recommend placing it in sorted waste collection according to the material. The glass part should be emptied, freed from product residues and placed in a container intended for glass according to local waste collection rules. The plastic dispenser and any other plastic components must be separated and sorted with plastics, if the local collection system allows it. Always follow the recycling recommendations given in the parameter description of the materials for the specific product on the Handymade website, to ensure correct inclusion in the recycling stream.
