The glass bottle – medicine bottle is generally suitable for most common oil-based and water-based cosmetic formulations. However, before final market launch, we recommend testing the behaviour of the specific recipe in the packaging – in particular the viscosity during dosing, colour and fragrance stability, and any sedimentation of components during storage. A test batch will help you verify whether the dispenser ensures smooth and even delivery of the product.

The packaging can be reused provided that strict hygiene rules are observed. Before each refilling, the bottle and the dispenser must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection we recommend the products IPA 99 % and ethanol 96 % in the pack sizes available on the website: IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol 1 l and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based 1 l. After disinfection, allow all parts of the packaging to dry thoroughly at room temperature so that the stability of the formulation is not compromised by residues of the cleaning agent.

For even dosing it is important to adapt the viscosity of the product to the type of dispenser and to carry out a trial filling. During the development of the recipe, monitor whether the pump dispenses the desired amount, whether the product is not getting trapped in the neck, and whether the packaging does not leak during transport. It is recommended to carry out tests at different temperatures and after repeated opening and closing, in order to verify the long-term behaviour of the contents as well as the sealing of the closure.

Before reuse, the bottle must be disassembled into its individual parts, residues of the original product must be removed and the packaging must be mechanically cleaned with a suitable cleaning agent. We then recommend disinfection with an alcohol solution – ideally with preparations based on isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, available as IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol 1 l and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based 1 l. After disinfection, allow the parts of the packaging to dry naturally in a clean, dust-free place. Only after the alcohol has completely evaporated and all components are dry is the packaging ready for new filling.

If you decide not to use the packaging further, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules. The glass part of the bottle is usually placed in separated glass collection, while the plastic and metal components of the dispenser belong in the appropriate containers according to the material type specified in the product parameters. Before handing it over for separated collection, it is advisable to empty the packaging, remove coarse product residues and separate the individual materials where possible. In this way you will contribute to more efficient recycling and waste reduction.
