The glass roll-on bottle is intended for precise and hygienic application of liquid formulations, especially oil-based and hydro-alcoholic blends. Thanks to the roll-on applicator, it enables targeted dosing without unnecessary product waste and minimizes the contact of the contents with the skin or air. The dark glass naturally contributes to better protection of sensitive components from light, which helps maintain the stability of fragrances, active ingredients and botanical extracts.
Bottles of this type are compatible with various types of closures and dosing systems (for example screw caps, droppers, atomizers or practical applicators) according to the selected parameters. Packaging and closure combinations that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test (sealing, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation).
All technical parameters of the packaging are specified in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
When filling, leave sufficient headspace in the upper part of the bottle so that the roll-on insert and the cap can seat correctly. After inserting the ball, press it down gently in a straight motion without tilting, so that the edges of the neck are not damaged. Then screw the cap on tightly and turn the bottle upside down so that the ball becomes moistened with the product. Before placing on the market, always carry out a leakage and dosing test during normal use as well as during transport.
The packaging can be reused if strict hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the roll-on insert must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After complete evaporation of the alcohol, check the cleanliness of the ball and the sealing of the cap. Repeated use is recommended only for products intended for the same or a very similar type of formulation.
The roll-on system works best at low to medium viscosity, i.e. with oil blends, light serums or hydro-alcoholic solutions. Emulsions or gels that are too thick may pass through the ball unevenly. Before final filling, always test the behaviour of your formula in a small amount – check whether the product flows smoothly through the ball, does not gum up the mechanism, and whether any leakage occurs during transport.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, it is recommended to recycle it in accordance with the material types specified in the product parameters. The glass part of the bottle, after being thoroughly emptied and rinsed, is typically sorted into the container designated for glass. The plastic or metal roll-on insert and the cap should be separated and sorted according to the relevant material fraction, if the local collection system allows this. Always follow the current waste-sorting rules in your municipality and the recycling recommendations based on the material composition indicated for the product.
The simplest way is to use the advanced filter in the relevant packaging category. After clicking on the category, the advanced filter is located at the top of the page and allows clear filtering according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour or material. Thanks to this, you can quickly narrow down your selection to bottles, vials or other containers that meet the technical and design requirements of your formulation.
