Before each new filling, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the bottle and sprayer and then disinfecting them with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after complete drying is the packaging ready for refilling.

First we recommend rinsing the packaging with a suitable cleaning solution or with warm water and a mild detergent (without aggressive surfactants and abrasives). It is then advisable to disinfect the bottle and sprayer mechanism with alcohol – ideally using the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After rinsing with alcohol, let all parts dry thoroughly at room temperature so that no residual moisture remains before refilling.

Plastic bottles with sprayers are generally used also for formulations containing alcohol and various active substances, but it is always necessary to test the compatibility of the specific formula with the given packaging. We recommend preparing a small trial sample, filling it into the bottle and observing for several days to weeks any changes in the colour, odour, consistency of the contents or changes of the packaging itself (softening, cloudiness, etc.). Such a test helps to verify the long-term stability of the product in the specific container.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging any longer, we recommend recycling it properly according to the material listed in the parameter table at the product on the Handymade.sk website. It is advisable first to empty the bottle and rinse it from product residues. Then place the packaging into the appropriate sorted waste according to local recycling rules (for example into the container intended for the specific type of plastic). The sprayer, which may be made from a combination of several materials, can, according to local guidelines, be sorted separately or disposed of in mixed waste if the recycling system in your area requires this.

For the sprayer to function optimally, it is important not to overfill the bottle and to leave a slight air space so that the mechanism can correctly draw up the liquid. At first use, the pump needs to be pressed several times until the system is filled with the contents. From time to time check that the spray head is firmly screwed on and that there are no product residues on the thread which could impair the seal. Whenever you change the type of filling, we recommend complete cleaning and disinfection of the packaging so that the fragrance, colour or stability of the new formulation is not affected.
