Product description

Caprylyl/Caprylyl Glucoside is a non-ionic tenside of plant origin produced from fatty alcohols (C8-C10) and glucose. It belongs to the group of so-called alkyl polyglucosides (APG) - surfactants that are skin-friendly, biodegradable and ideal for modern, "clean beauty" formulations. It combines high gentleness with very good cleansing and foaming properties. It is also suitable for sensitive or children's skin, while providing excellent stability over a wide pH range and in combination with other tensides.

Key benefits

  • Gentle on skin and eyes - ideal for products intended for everyday use and for sensitive skin.
  • High cleansing efficacy while maintaining softness, without feeling dry after use.
  • Good lathering even in formulations without sulphates and ethoxylated tensides ("sulphate-free", "EO-free").
  • Compatible with all types of tensides - improves stability and sensory properties of finished products.
  • 100% vegetable origin (from coconut or palm kernel oil and glucose from corn or wheat).
  • Free of preservatives, solvents and antioxidants - pure, transparent concentrate (UP version).
  • Suitable for natural and organic cosmetics (COSMOS, ECOCERT, NATRUE, Ecolabel, Nordic Swan).

Suitable for products such as

  • Gentle shower gels and body foams
  • Shampoos for everyday use and children's formulations
  • Cleansing gels, foams and micellar waters
  • Liquid soaps, intimate gels and products for sensitive skin
  • Moist wipes and multifunctional cleansers

Use in formulation

  • Recommended dosage: typically 2-30% depending on product type (lower in combinations with other tensides, higher in mild gels and shampoos).
  • Incorporation: add to the aqueous phase; premix with other tensides if necessary. Mix concentrate well before use - slight stratification is common and reversible.
  • pH stability: stable over a wide pH range (2-12), recommended final product pH 5-8.
  • Optics: any turbidity in the concentrate or mixture will clear after pH adjustment (below 8.5).
  • Storage: store at 10-40 °C, without freezing. Always mix homogeneously before use.
  • It is recommended to add during cooling (below 40 °C) to maintain clarity and stability.

Safety and stability

Caprylyl/Caprylyl Glucoside is highly compatible with the skin and is one of the finest surfactants available in cosmetics. It is 100% biodegradable and meets the requirements of environmental standards for green cleaning and cosmetic products. Use basic protective equipment when handling the concentrate (pH 11.5-12.5); in finished cosmetic products, the pH is already adjusted to a skin-acceptable level. Finished products should be preserved with an appropriate preservative system according to the risk of contamination.

FAQ

Is Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside suitable for sensitive skin and children's products?

Yes. This sugar tenside is extremely gentle and well tolerated by the skin and eyes, making it an ideal choice for sensitive skin, children's products or daily cleansing.

Why can the concentrate become cloudy and how do I resolve it?

Turbidity or mild opalescence is caused by the high pH of the concentrate and the presence of trace minerals. After dilution and pH adjustment of the finished product, it usually clears up completely.

Is Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional sulfates?

Yes. This tenside is 100% plant-derived, fully biodegradable and free of ethoxylation. It is ideal for "green", "sulfate-free" or "vegan" formulations.

What can it be combined with for optimal effect?

It combines well with other non-ionic or amphoteric tensides such as Coco Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside or Cocamidopropyl Betaine to improve foaming, viscosity and product softness.
