Product description

Frosted glass bottle with matte silver dropper, 30 ml is used for filling and dispensing liquid cosmetic products by the drop, especially facial serums, facial and hair oils, or essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil. Frosted glass softens the passage of light but remains translucent, so you can see how much of the contents is left in the bottle. The matte silver dropper with an 18/410 neck finish is supplied together with the bottle as a set.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is provided with the product. It is intended for cosmetics and must not be used for filling food, beverages or food supplements.

How to use the set

The dropper combines a glass tube, a silicone squeeze bulb and an aluminium collar with a matte silver finish; the thread is plastic. The contents are drawn up by squeezing the silicone bulb, immersing the tube and releasing. The length of the tube matches the height of the bottle, so the remaining contents at the bottom can also be drawn up. The contents first come into contact with the glass tube, not with plastic.

It dispenses liquid to slightly viscous formulations best. With thick serums containing a higher proportion of gelling agents, the contents are drawn up slowly and drops form with more difficulty. After each use, tighten the dropper, and do not leave the bottle upside down during transport. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, where the customer dispenses a few drops per use and can see the contents through the wall of the bottle.
  • Facial, hair and nail oils – a volume of 30 ml corresponds to a small personal amount that is used up before the oil loses its freshness.
  • Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – dispensing by the drop makes it easier to dilute precisely for a bath, a massage oil or a diffuser.
  • Test batches and samples – the small volume is suitable for trying out a recipe before making a larger quantity.

Nominal volume and headroom

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the quantity the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between the two forms the headroom for the dropper tube, which displaces part of the contents upwards when inserted, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled to the neck, the contents are pushed out through the thread when the dropper is screwed on and soil the collar.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely.
  • Glass and heat – pour in the contents once they have cooled, as a sudden temperature difference may damage the glass.
  • Light – frosted glass softens light. For substances that are particularly sensitive to light, consider dark glass or storage out of direct sunlight.
  • Reuse – the bottle can be used again after thorough washing. For the dropper, check that the silicone part keeps its shape and draws up well.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs with glass; the dropper consists of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a certificate for food contact, so they are not suitable for homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions.

Frequently asked questions

Does a frosted glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Frosted glass softens the passage of light but does not block it completely. For most serums and oils, this is sufficient together with storage out of direct sunlight. For substances that break down quickly in light, amber or blue glass provides greater protection. The advantage of a frosted bottle is that you can see the amount of remaining contents through the wall.
How much fits in a 30 ml glass bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is designed for 30 ml of contents, which is its nominal volume. Filled to the brim, it physically holds more, and the exact value is in the product parameters. The headroom above the nominal volume is needed for the dropper tube and for the expansion of the contents, so the bottle is filled only to the nominal volume.
Is a glass bottle with a dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, for essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil; both the glass and the glass tube of the dropper are fine with oils. When filling concentrated essential oils, we recommend first checking how the silicone squeeze bulb of the dropper behaves during longer contact, and shortening the storage time if necessary.
Can a glass bottle with a dropper be reused?
Yes, the bottle and the dropper can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Both parts must be completely dry before the next filling. If the silicone part of the dropper has softened, lost its shape or draws up poorly, replace it with a new dropper with an 18/410 neck finish.
How are thicker serums dispensed with the dropper?
Thicker serums are drawn up more slowly with the dropper, and larger amounts may form instead of drops. For formulations with a higher proportion of gelling agents, it is advisable to reduce the viscosity in the recipe itself or to choose packaging with a pump. Liquid and slightly viscous serums are dispensed without problems, drop by drop.
