Product description

The frosted glass bottle with nasal sprayer is a set for 30 ml of thin, water-based contents, applied in small doses as a fine mist. The frosted, matte glass lets you see the liquid level, so you know how much is left in the bottle. The white pump with a long, narrow applicator releases only a small amount with each press, so it suits hydrolates, toners and refreshing sprays, where the product needs to be applied precisely and without waste. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The name “nasal sprayer” refers to the type of pump; the set is intended for cosmetic products.

How the set dispenses

The pump has an 18/410 neck finish, a dip tube and a narrow applicator. One press releases approximately 0.12 ml of contents. On first use, the pump needs several priming presses until the dip tube and chamber fill and the mist starts to come out evenly.

The pump’s dip tube is longer than the bottle itself. Before the pump is fitted, the tube is trimmed to a length at which it reaches the bottom without bending. Otherwise the pump draws in air at the end and part of the contents remains unused.

Cut the dip tube at an angle and a little at a time. A trimmed tube cannot be lengthened again, so we recommend first holding the pump against the empty bottle and measuring the length.

What it is suitable for

The set is designed for thin contents with a viscosity close to water. It works best with:

  • Hydrolates – rose, lavender or chamomile hydrolate in a travel pack to refresh the skin during the day.
  • Toners and facial waters – light water-based blends with active ingredients, applied in a small amount to the face or décolleté.
  • Samples and test batches – a volume of 30 ml is enough to check a recipe or to make a sample for a customer, without filling large packaging.
  • Scalp refreshers – the narrow applicator allows you to apply a water-based spray precisely between strands of hair.

Thick gel-like serums, emulsions and oils are not sprayed evenly through this type of pump and may clog it. For contents with a higher proportion of alcohol or with essential oils, we recommend checking beforehand how they react with the plastic parts of the pump made of PP, PS and LDPE.

The pump is not intended for oil-based or thick contents. Before filling a whole batch, test the formulation in one set and leave it to stand for several days to see whether the pump draws properly and seals.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the pump body, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents overflow through the thread when the pump is fitted and the closure then does not seal.

Good to know

Before the first filling, the bottle is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with clean water and spray it several times so that the water comes out. Residual water in the bottle would dilute the contents and reduce their stability, and in water-based formulations without a preservative, also their microbiological stability.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. The bottle is filled with contents cooled to room temperature, not hot straight after mixing. The bottle can be reused after thorough washing. The pump cannot be cleaned on the inside, so when changing the contents we recommend replacing it with a new one, especially if it previously held a formulation with fragrance or colorant.

The empty glass bottle goes into glass recycling. The pump is made up of several plastics and a steel spring, so it is sorted separately as plastic. Closures with the same 18/410 neck finish and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the glass bottle with nasal sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, not with food. The set is therefore used for hydrolates, toners and other cosmetic sprays, not for drinks, syrups or infusions intended for consumption.
How much does the nasal sprayer pump release with one press?
Approximately 0.12 ml with thin, water-based contents. With a 30 ml fill, that means roughly 250 presses, although part of the contents remains in the dip tube and at the bottom of the bottle. The actual amount depends on the viscosity of the formulation and on whether the pump was properly primed with several presses before first use.
Can the glass bottle with nasal sprayer be used for oily or thick contents?
No, the pump is intended for thin, water-based liquids. Oils and gel serums are not sprayed into a mist through the narrow applicator; they come out as a stream or clog the pump. For oil-based contents, a glass bottle with a dropper or another closure with the same 18/410 neck finish is a better choice.
How do I prepare the set with nasal sprayer before the first filling?
Wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water and spray it out until empty so that the water runs out. Trim the dip tube to a length at which it reaches the bottom without bending. Then fill the bottle to the nominal volume of 30 ml and screw on the pump.
Can the glass bottle with nasal sprayer pump be reused?
The glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The pump cannot be cleaned on the inside, and residues of the previous contents remain in the dip tube and chamber. With the same formulation, the pump can be used again after rinsing; when changing the contents or after a longer period of standing, we recommend fitting a new one.
