Product description
The set Glass bottle, clear, black cap with dropper, 5 ml is a small glass vial with an inserted plastic dropper and a screw-on black cap, ready for immediate filling. It is suitable for anything that is dosed in drops and in small quantities: essential oil blends, oil perfumes, concentrated serums, facial oils or test samples for customers. Clear glass shows the contents, colour and fill level, making it ideal especially where visibility of what is inside the bottle is important.
What the set is suitable for
- Samples and test packaging – a 5 ml volume is enough for a few days of trying a serum, facial oil or fragrance composition without using a full-size product.
- Essential oils and their blends – the dropper dispenses drop by drop, which is exactly the dosing method customers expect with concentrated oils.
- Oil perfumes – a small package of concentrated fragrance applied spot-on to the skin.
- Concentrated active serums – with expensive active ingredients, a small package that is used up before the contents begin to lose their efficacy is worthwhile.
- Trial and travel packaging – when developing a new formula, it allows filling several variants side by side and comparing them.
How the set works for filling and dosing
The dropper is inserted directly into the bottle neck and holds in place without adhesive. When the bottle is tilted, it releases the contents drop by drop, without squeezing, which is not possible with a glass container anyway. The screw cap with an 18/410 thread screws over the dropper and seals the entire set. When dosing, the cap is unscrewed, the bottle tilted, and after use closed again.
It is important to distinguish between nominal volume and total volume to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the container is designed for normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dropper, which extends into the neck, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. It should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will be pushed out when the dropper is inserted.
With oily and alcoholic contents, leave a small headspace below the neck when filling. Oils and ethanol expand more with heat than water, and with a full neck the contents would overflow or get under the cap when the dropper is inserted.
Good to know
Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing the bottle, dropper and cap before use, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in the dropper could spoil anhydrous contents, especially oil perfumes and essential oil blends.
Light and content stability. Clear glass does not provide protection from light. For contents sensitive to light and oxidation, such as essential oils, vitamin serums or oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, it is advisable to store the bottles in the dark or in a cardboard box. If the product is to be exposed to light for an extended period, opt for brown or blue glass instead.
The dropper and cap are plastic. With highly concentrated essential oils, solvents and fragrance compositions with a high proportion of pure essential oils, we recommend verifying the dropper's behaviour with the specific formulation before filling a whole series.
Water-based, alcoholic and oil-based contents. Glass is inert towards water, ethanol and oils and does not absorb fragrance or colour. The set can therefore handle water-based serums, alcoholic tinctures and pure oils. Water-based contents, however, require preservation just as in any other container.
Repeated use. The glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The dropper is difficult to clean on the inside after removal from the neck; when changing the contents, it is therefore preferable to replace it with a new one so that fragrances and residues are not transferred.
Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the bottle allows applying a narrow label around the circumference; label dimensions can be found in the product parameters. With such a small container, it is worth putting only the name, dosage and batch on the label and placing the remaining information on the outer packaging.
Suitability and recycling. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; declarations of conformity are available for the individual components. After use, the glass bottle is recycled as glass, and the dropper and cap as plastic. It is sufficient to separate them before disposal.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying leak-tightness, dosing and the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.
