Glass is generally a stable and inert material, therefore this bottle is also suitable for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils, as long as these concentrations are common for cosmetic and aromatherapeutic products. We always recommend performing your own stability test – fill a smaller amount of the blend, observe any changes in scent, colour or behaviour of the sprayer and verify whether clogging or changes in dosing occur.

The packaging can be reused repeatedly if basic hygienic principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle must be thoroughly emptied, rinsed, mechanically cleaned and subsequently disinfected with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection, we recommend using products available on Handymade, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After disinfection, allow all parts of the packaging to dry completely, and only then refill the bottle with a new product.

The consistency of the filled product should be rather low-viscosity – typically water-based solutions, hydrolats or alcohol sprays. Thick emulsions and oil blends may limit spraying. Before regular use, we recommend performing several test pumps so that the system is filled and any air is expelled. When shortening the dip tube at home, it is important to cut it straight and carefully so that it is not bent and does not prevent the liquid from being drawn from the bottom part of the bottle.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it responsibly according to local waste-sorting rules and the information provided in the parameter table of the product on the Handymade website. Glass parts can usually be placed in the container designated for glass once you have removed any remaining contents. The sprayer, which is made up of several materials, should be separated from the glass before handing the waste over and you should follow the recommendations of the local collection system. We always recommend removing as many product residues and any labels from the packaging as possible in order to make recycling more efficient.
