Product description

A clear plastic bottle, 100 ml, with a black fine mist sprayer and smoky overcap is intended for filling liquid preparations that are applied by spraying. It is suitable for facial toners, hydrosols and mists, hair and body sprays, air fresheners or light alcohol-based solutions. The bottle is made of PET, so it is light and unbreakable, which is practical in a handbag and when travelling. The clear wall shows how much content remains and whether it has changed colour. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrosols – aqueous solutions without oil and without thickeners are dispensed evenly through the sprayer, without dripping.
  • Face and body mists – light water-based formulations with humectants, for example with glycerine or hyaluronic acid at a low concentration.
  • Hair sprays – aqueous or water-alcohol preparations for refreshing, detangling or setting without silicone thickeners.
  • Air fresheners and fragrance sprays – aqueous solutions with solubilised fragrance for the home, for textiles or for the body.
  • Cleaning solutions – alcohol-based preparations for surfaces where you want a measured dose per press.

The thinner the content, the better it sprays. This type of sprayer cannot handle thick serums, higher-viscosity emulsions or pure oils. They stay in the head or come out as a stream instead of a mist.

How to work with the set

The sprayer screws onto the bottle neck with an 18 mm thread. The tube reaches almost to the bottom, so the content can be sprayed out to the last dose without tilting. One press releases approximately 0.12 ml. You can use this for usage instructions or to estimate how many applications a bottle will last. The smoky overcap protects the head against accidental pressing in a bag and keeps it clean.

Before the first filling, take the set apart, rinse the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and leave them to dry completely. After filling, prime the sprayer by pressing it several times until the tube fills and the mist is even.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The actual volume up to the neck is slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer, and space in which the content can expand when the temperature changes. Therefore fill only up to the nominal volume. If you overfill the bottle, the content will overflow through the neck when the sprayer is screwed on and the head may not seal properly.

Good to know

The bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of polypropylene. Both work without difficulty with common aqueous and water-alcohol formulations. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, solvents or surfactants, we recommend checking the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation, that is, the tightness, the appearance of the wall and the function of the head after several days.

The clear wall does not protect the content from light. Store light-sensitive preparations, for example toners with vitamin C or formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, away from the sun, or choose dark packaging.

The sprayer is not intended for contact with food. The certificate for direct contact with food applies to the bottle alone; the set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetics.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be refilled repeatedly. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and alcohol so that no residues of the previous content remain in the tube and head. You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with the specific formulation. After use, the bottle and the sprayer are sorted as plastic; separate them before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put hydrosol or toner in the 100 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer?
Yes, aqueous preparations such as hydrosols, toners and facial mists are the most suitable for this set. The sprayer dispenses them as a fine mist in an approximate dose of 0.12 ml per press. Disinfect the bottle and the sprayer before filling, and after filling prime the sprayer by pressing it several times until the tube fills.
Can I spray oil with this set?
No, this sprayer will not turn pure oil or thick oil serums into a mist. The head is designed for thinner aqueous and alcohol-based solutions. The oil will either stay in the tube or come out as a stream. For oil preparations, choose a bottle with a pump or a dropper, or use a solubilised aqueous formulation with a low proportion of oil.
Does the clear plastic bottle protect the content from light?
No, clear PET lets light through. Store light-sensitive content, for example solutions with vitamin C or preparations with essential oils, in the dark or in amber or blue packaging. The advantage of clear plastic is that you can see the remaining amount and any change in colour or cloudiness.
How much content fits in the 100 ml bottle with a sprayer?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 100 ml. The physical volume up to the neck is higher, but this reserve is taken up by the tube with the body of the sprayer and by space for the content to expand when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If the bottle is overfilled, the content is pushed out through the neck when the head is screwed on.
Is the plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for alcohol-based sprays?
Yes, common water-alcohol solutions for hair, body or home are routinely used in a PET bottle with a polypropylene sprayer. With a higher proportion of essential oils or other solvents, we recommend testing the tightness and function of the head with the finished formulation after several days, because the behaviour of the material depends on the specific composition.
