Product description

A clear 100 ml PET bottle and a white fine mist sprayer with an 18 mm thread make a ready-made set for your own toners, facial mists and hydrosols. The clear plastic shows the contents and the liquid level, so you can see at a glance how much product is left and whether anything has settled in it. The bottle is light and does not break if dropped, which makes it suitable for the bathroom and for travel. The fine mist sprayer disperses the contents into a mist in small doses, so the set is used mainly for thin water-based and alcohol-based solutions.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the set with the fine mist sprayer, as a whole, is intended for cosmetic and technical use.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial toners and mists – water-based solutions with active ingredients, glycerine or hyaluronic acid are applied evenly without touching the skin with your hands, which also makes hygiene easier during use.
  • Hydrosols – rose, lavender or calendula water to refresh the skin during the day or to set a serum after application.
  • Leave-in hair sprays – thin solutions to make combing easier or to refresh the hair between washes.
  • Alcohol-based solutions – air and fabric fresheners with a fragrance composition, or alcohol for spraying the surface of cold process soap to prevent soda ash.
  • Making aids – water to moisten a mould, a solution for cleaning the work surface, samples for testing fragrance.

How the set works

The fine mist sprayer screws onto the bottle neck with an 18 mm thread. The dip tube reaches almost to the bottom, so most of the contents can be sprayed out without tilting the bottle. One press releases approximately 0.13 ml. The toner is therefore dispensed in small amounts, and a few presses spread it evenly over the face or hair.

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, that is, the volume the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is larger; it is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference serves as a reserve for the sprayer dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim would overflow when the fine mist sprayer is fitted.

Before the first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Prime the fine mist sprayer by pumping it several times with the product itself, so that the air is expelled from the dip tube and the first doses are already full.

Good to know

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. We recommend keeping hydrosols, solutions with vitamins and products with essential oils in it away from direct sunlight. For long-term storage of sensitive blends, an amber or blue glass bottle is more suitable; the clear set is better for daily use.

A fine mist sprayer of this type is built for liquids with low viscosity. Thick emulsions, gels and oils pass through it with difficulty or clog the nozzle. With your own blend, for example a toner with a higher proportion of glycerine or an oil spray, we recommend testing how the fine mist sprayer behaves beforehand.

Neither the bottle nor the fine mist sprayer is intended for aggressive chemicals. The set is suitable for diluted water-based and alcohol-based solutions; for other contents, we recommend checking compatibility with the plastic beforehand.

Water-based solutions without alcohol need a preservative. Although the fine mist sprayer limits contact of the contents with your hands, the product stays in the bottle for longer, and a water-based environment without preservation will not last.

Once empty, the set can be washed and used again, ideally for the same type of contents. The bottle is made of PET and the fine mist sprayer of polypropylene; both parts belong in sorted plastic waste, and we recommend separating them before recycling. You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made packaging-plus-closure combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic bottle with a fine mist sprayer suitable for hydrosols and facial toners?
Yes, the set is designed precisely for low-viscosity water-based solutions such as hydrosols, toners and facial mists. The fine mist sprayer disperses them into a mist in small doses, so they can be applied without touching the skin with your hands. Water-based products without alcohol must be preserved, and the clear bottle should be kept away from direct sunlight.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. Light-sensitive products, for example solutions with vitamins or essential oils, should be stored in it in the dark and used up sooner. For long-term storage of sensitive blends, amber or blue glass is more suitable; the clear bottle is suited to everyday use.
How much liquid should I pour into the 100 ml bottle with a fine mist sprayer?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the rim of the neck. The total volume to the neck is larger, and this difference forms a reserve for the sprayer dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the contents will overflow when the fine mist sprayer is fitted.
Can the plastic bottle and fine mist sprayer set be used for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact; the fine mist sprayer does not, so the set with the fine mist sprayer is intended for cosmetic and technical use. If you need packaging for food, choose a bottle with a closure that also has a food contact certificate.
Does the white 18 mm fine mist sprayer also spray oil or a thicker toner?
The fine mist sprayer is built for thin water-based and alcohol-based solutions; oils and thick products pass through the nozzle with difficulty. With a toner with a higher proportion of glycerine or with an oil blend, the dose becomes smaller and the nozzle may clog. We recommend testing how your specific formulation behaves beforehand on a small amount.
Can the plastic bottle with a fine mist sprayer be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the fine mist sprayer can be washed and used again, ideally for the same kind of contents. Rinse the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid and disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Run clean water through the fine mist sprayer to remove product residues from the dip tube and nozzle. Both parts must be completely dry before the next filling.
