Product description

A bottle with a fine mist sprayer for facial toners, hydrosols and hair sprays, in a volume of 100 ml. Clear PET shows the colour and clarity of the contents, is lightweight and, unlike glass, does not break, so it suits a handbag, travel and market stalls. The set consists of a clear bottle with an 18 mm neck and a black sprayer with a long dip tube that reaches deep into the bottle and lets you spray out most of the contents.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, whereas the sprayer does not, so the assembly as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

The sprayer dispenses thin liquids, so the set is best suited to products with a water or alcohol base:

  • Hydrosols and facial mists – the sprayer disperses the contents into a fine mist that settles on the skin without running.
  • Toners and facial waters – including those with acids or water-soluble active ingredients.
  • Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – thin solutions that need to be spread evenly along the lengths.
  • Fabric and air fresheners – alcohol- or water-based, with a fragrance composition and a solubiliser.
  • Disinfecting and refreshing hand sprays – containing alcohol.

Thick emulsions, gels and pure oils dispense poorly or not at all through this type of sprayer. For these, choose a pump or a flip top closure.

How to fill and dispense

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, that is, up to 100 ml. The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume of the bottle up to the neck is larger, but this difference serves as a reserve for the sprayer’s dip tube, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim would overflow when the sprayer is screwed on.

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which corresponds to one spray of facial mist or freshener. When calculating the directions for use or the number of doses per pack, bear in mind that some of the contents will remain below the opening of the tube.

After filling, screw the sprayer on firmly and pump it several times to prime it, so that the tube and the mechanism fill with liquid. The first sprays may be uneven until the system is primed.

Good to know

Clear PET does not provide protection from light. We recommend storing hydrosols, products containing vitamin C, fragrance compositions and other light-sensitive contents away from direct sunlight, or considering coloured packaging.

Before first filling, rinse the bottle and the sprayer with clean water, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube or in the bottle would dilute the contents and could put a strain on the product’s preservative system.

For contents with a higher proportion of alcohol or essential oils, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation: whether the bottle changes shape and whether the sprayer still dispenses evenly and does not stick after several days. The same test is worthwhile for toners with a lower pH or a higher solubiliser content.

The PET bottle is not intended for hot filling. Fill hydrosols, toners and alcohol solutions only after they have cooled to room temperature.

Both the bottle and the sprayer can be reused after thorough cleaning and disinfection. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP; once separated, both parts can be handed in for plastic recycling. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you are combining parts yourself, we recommend testing the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific contents.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosol?
Yes, hydrosols are a typical use for this set. The sprayer disperses them into a fine mist and the PET bottle is light to carry. However, clear PET does not block light, so store the hydrosol away from the sun and disinfect the packaging before filling. If the hydrosol is not preserved, use it up quickly.
Can oil be dispensed through the 18 mm sprayer?
No, this sprayer is intended for thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids. Pure oils and oil serums have a higher viscosity, so the sprayer dispenses them unevenly, produces a jet instead of a mist and may become clogged over time. For oils, choose a bottle with a pump, a dropper or a disc top cap.
Why is the bottle with a sprayer not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml so that space remains above the liquid for the sprayer’s dip tube and for air. The total volume up to the neck is larger precisely because of this reserve. If it were filled to the brim, the contents would overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and would expand and press on the closure when warmed.
Can I pour an alcohol-based perfume spray into a clear PET bottle?
Alcohol-based sprays are commonly filled into a PET bottle with a sprayer, but we recommend testing the behaviour with your specific formulation. Check whether the bottle stays stable in shape and whether the sprayer dispenses evenly after several days. Fragrance compositions with a high proportion of essential oils can put more long-term strain on the plastic than an ordinary alcohol solution.
Is the bottle and sprayer set also suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The clear 100 ml bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, whereas the sprayer carries no such declaration. If you need packaging for homemade syrups or herbal infusions, choose a bottle with a closure that is also declared for food contact.
Can the bottle with a sprayer be reused?
Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection the set can be filled again. Rinse the bottle with water and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Flush the sprayer by drawing warm clean water through the mechanism several times and spraying it out, so that no residues of the previous contents settle in it. Let both parts dry completely before filling, so that residual water does not dilute the new contents.
