Product description
Clear plastic bottle, black aluminium cap, 100 ml
The clear PET bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a black aluminium cap forms a ready-to-use set for filling liquid cosmetics where the colour and clarity of the contents should be visible. The clear plastic shows the golden shade of a facial oil as well as the bubbles in a liquid soap, which you will appreciate for products intended for sale or for samples for customers. The bottle is light and does not break, so it is suitable for travel, for postal shipments and for everyday use in the bathroom.
The narrow neck with an 18 mm thread is designed for pouring and for dispensing by drops or small doses, not for scooping with a finger. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle itself also has a certificate for direct contact with food, while the cap does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial and hair oils – the narrow neck makes it easier to pour precisely into the palm or to drip onto the skin.
- Toners, hydrolates and micellar waters – thin water-based contents pour out without splashing, and the cap keeps them sealed between uses.
- Liquid soaps and shampoos in a small pack – the 100 ml volume corresponds to a travel or trial pack, so the customer can try the product before buying a larger quantity.
- Make-up remover and massage oils – when the bottle is regularly tipped and closed, it helps that the plastic does not crack even if it falls onto tiles.
- Working solutions and intermediate products – in the workshop it can hold measured amounts of glycerine, hydrolates or a dissolved active concentrate. The contents are recognisable at first glance.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example during transport in summer. Therefore, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill up to the neck, the contents may be pushed out when the cap is screwed on and the seal may become contaminated.
Allow hot emulsions and solutions to cool to room temperature before filling. PET is not intended for hot filling.
Closure and seal
The black cap is made of aluminium with an inner foam liner made of expanded polyethylene (EPE). The liner is pressed against the rim of the neck when the cap is tightened and seals the contents. Tighten by hand, without tools: aluminium is a soft metal, and with excessive force the thread or the rim of the cap will deform. For thicker contents, such as thick oils or shampoos, we recommend checking the seal with the specific formulation, because residues on the neck can reduce the adhesion of the liner.
The cap can be replaced with another closure with the same neck type, which is stated in the parameters. You will find other closures and ready-made combinations of the bottle with a dropper or a sprayer in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your formulation.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Residual water is clearly visible in a clear bottle, which helps with the check.
Clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, products with vitamin C, retinol or citrus essential oils are best stored in a cabinet or in dark packaging. For display on a shelf, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, pure ethanol or solvents, test in advance whether the wall of the bottle turns cloudy or softens. The compatibility of PET with such ingredients cannot be guaranteed in general; it depends on the specific recipe.
The bottle can be reused if, after emptying, you wash it with warm water and washing-up liquid, disinfect it and let it dry. The liner in the cap loses its elasticity over time, so when reusing, check that the closure still seals. The body of the bottle goes in plastic recycling as PET; unscrew the aluminium cap and dispose of it with metals.
