Clear Plastic Bottle, Black Lotion Pump with Smoky Overcap, 100 ml

This set of a clear PET bottle and a lotion pump is intended for face creams, body lotions and thicker serums that you want to dispense with a press, without unscrewing a cap and without putting your fingers into the contents. The bottle has a volume of 100 ml, and the clear plastic shows the colour of the contents and how much of them is left. PET is lightweight and unbreakable, so the set is suitable for the bathroom, for travel and for customer packages.

The black pump has a smoky overcap that covers the pump head and protects it from dust and accidental pressing during transport. The bottle and the pump have the same thread type, so they fit together and seal without any further adjustment. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, but the pump does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

• Face and body creams – a medium-thick emulsion passes through the tube smoothly and is dispensed in small portions as needed.
• Body lotions and lighter emulsions – a more fluid consistency is dispensed evenly and the contents do not run down the neck as they would with a bottle with a cap.
• Gel serums and thick gels – the pump always dispenses approximately the same amount, which makes it easier to dose active ingredients.
• Cream cleansers – for products used daily in a damp environment, the contents stay in a closed system and do not come into contact with fingers.

Dispensing and filling

One press of the pump dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. The dose is small, and you build the amount for one application from several presses, depending on the type of product. Before first use, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the tube fills and the cream starts to come out.

The nominal volume of the bottle is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the brim is larger and reaches up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the tube and the body of the pump. Fill up to the nominal volume, that is 100 ml, not up to the brim, otherwise you will push the cream out through the neck when screwing on the pump.

The lotion pump is built for emulsions and gels. Very firm butters and balms containing wax will not pass through the tube and the pump will jam. With liquid oils, toners and hydrosols, on the other hand, the dose shoots out forcefully and part of it drips off.

Good to know

• Preparation before filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Pump clean water through the pump and leave it with the head pointing down so that the tube drains.
• Light – clear PET does not protect the contents from light. For formulations with vitamin C, retinol or oils prone to oxidation, keep the bottle out of direct sunlight or choose dark packaging.
• Compatibility with the contents – the bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, test the behaviour of the packaging on a sample for several weeks.
• Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, the set can be filled again. If the pressing force changes over time or the pump draws up the cream intermittently, replace it.
• Recycling – unscrew the pump before disposal. The bottle is made of PET and the pump of polypropylene, so put each part in the plastics recycling separately.
