Product description

Plastic bottle, transparent, matte white cap, 150 ml

A transparent plastic bottle with a volume of 150 ml and a matte white screw cap is a ready-to-fill set for filling your own cosmetic products, from tonics and cleansing oils to rinse-off bathroom products. Both the bottle and the closure are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and share the same neck type, so there is no need to search for a matching cap or test compatibility. The PET bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, and the contents remain visible, making it suitable for products where the appearance of the fill should be visible. The matte white cap gives the packaging a simple, neutral look that is easy to match with a label.

What the set offers

  • Transparent bottle – the contents are visible; both the customer and the producer can immediately see how much product remains and what the fill looks like; suitable for clear and coloured formulations that are not light-sensitive.
  • Lightweight and shatterproof PET – the bottle is significantly lighter than glass, withstands drops in the bathroom and an overstuffed travel bag, and can be sent to customers without concern.
  • Screw cap – the packaging opens and closes simply, without a dispensing mechanism; suitable for products that are poured into the palm or applied with a cotton pad.
  • 150 ml volume – a practical size for everyday-use products, travel sizes within larger product lines, and test batches before scaling up to a larger volume.
  • Set ready to fill – the bottle and closure share the same neck type 24/410; the combination has been tested and only needs to be filled.

Nominal and total volume

Each bottle has two distinct volumes. The nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is intended under normal filling conditions, and it is also stated in the packaging name. The total brim volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is the clearance required by the closure, pump, or sprayer, and the space for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The exact values of both volumes are listed in the product parameters.

When filling, it helps to measure the fill by volume or weigh it according to the density of the formulation. The level should end below the neck so that the contents are not pushed out when the cap is screwed on and so the product has room to expand with temperature changes.

Suitable for products such as

  • Tonics and facial waters – water-based products without light-sensitive ingredients, applied to the palm or with a cotton pad.
  • Cleansing and makeup-removing oils – the transparent bottle shows the clarity of the oil and any colouring from natural extracts.
  • Micellar waters and makeup removers – low-viscosity water-based products dispensed by pouring.
  • Rinse-off products in travel size – shampoos, shower gels and conditioners for a smaller product line or travel; thicker products dispense more slowly from a screw-cap bottle, and for larger volumes a different closure may be more practical.
  • Massage and body oils – the 150 ml volume is sufficient for several weeks of use.
  • Samples and test batches – lightweight packaging for pilot products where the final packaging has not yet been decided.

For products with light-sensitive active ingredients, such as vitamin C, retinol or certain plant extracts, amber or blue glass or opaque plastic is more suitable.

What is good to know when filling

Preparation before filling. We recommend washing the bottle and cap, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging would dilute an anhydrous product and increases the microbiological risk in water-based formulations. The same applies before each subsequent filling if the set is used repeatedly.

Fill temperature. PET is not intended for filling hot products. Allow emulsions, gels and oils to cool to room temperature before filling; otherwise the bottle may deform and shrink once the contents cool. Protect the packaging from heat during storage as well.

Essential oils and solvents. In most cosmetic formulations with a standard proportion of essential oils, PET performs without issue. At high concentrations of essential oils, in undiluted fragrance compositions, or in products with a higher proportion of solvents, the plastic may become cloudy, soften, or deform. In such cases we recommend a test with a small amount of product before filling the entire batch.

The cap closes the bottle by screwing; we therefore recommend checking the seal with the specific formulation in advance, particularly for liquid oils and low-viscosity water-based products that will be transported. When shipping, it helps to tighten the closure and transport the packaging in an upright position.

Labelling. The label belongs on the flat part of the bottle body below the shoulder. The bottle dimensions are listed in the parameters.

Other closures. Closures with the same neck type 24/410 and ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour and packaging performance with the specific formulation.

Recycling. The PET bottle and the PP cap both belong in plastic waste. As these are two different types of plastic, it is advisable to separate the cap from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Plastic Bottle 150 ml with cap set suitable for cosmetics?
Yes, both the bottle and the matte white cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is therefore intended for tonics, oils, rinse-off products and other cosmetic formulations. The set is not declared for contact with food. The declaration of conformity and related documents are available with the product.
Does the transparent PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the transparent bottle does not protect the contents from light. It is suitable for formulations that are not light-sensitive, such as cleansing oils, micellar waters or standard rinse-off products. For products with unstable active ingredients, such as vitamin C or retinol, amber or blue glass or an opaque packaging and storage away from direct light is more suitable.
How much product is filled into a bottle with a nominal volume of 150 ml?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 150 ml, not to the brim. The remainder up to the total volume is the clearance for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. For thicker products, it helps to weigh the fill according to the density of the formulation so that the level ends below the neck and the contents are not pushed out when the cap is screwed on.
Can the PET bottle be used for oils and products containing essential oils?
Yes, vegetable oils and standard cosmetic formulations with a low proportion of essential oils fill into PET without issue. At high concentrations of essential oils, with pure fragrance compositions, or in products with a higher solvent content, the plastic may soften or become cloudy. Before filling an entire batch, we recommend a test with a small amount of product and monitoring the packaging for several days.
How to clean the plastic bottle and cap before filling, and can the set be used repeatedly?
Washing the bottle and cap with warm water and detergent, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely is sufficient. The set can be used repeatedly as long as it is not damaged. With repeated filling, bear in mind that residues of oil or fragrance from the previous product are harder to remove from plastic than from glass.
Can a pump or sprayer be used on the 24/410 bottle instead of the cap?
Yes, any closure with the same neck type 24/410 can be fitted to the bottle. These closures and ready-made combinations with the bottle are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying that the dip tube length matches the height of the bottle and that the closure seals with the specific formulation.
