Product description

Clear plastic bottle, silver cap, 150 ml

This clear PET bottle with a nominal volume of 150 ml and a matte silver cap with a 24/410 neck finish is designed for liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed by unscrewing the cap and pouring: toners, hydrosols, micellar waters, facial and massage oils, liquid soaps and shampoos in smaller packs. The bottle is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it suits the bathroom, travel and customer samples. Through the clear walls you can see the colour of the contents and how much product is left. The bottle and cap set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The packaging is not approved for contact with food.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners, hydrosols and micellar waters – thin water-based products pour easily from the 24/410 neck into your palm or onto a cotton pad.
  • Facial, hair and massage oils – PET is a common material for vegetable oils and oil blends, and through the clear wall you can see the clarity of the oil and any cloudiness.
  • Liquid soaps, shampoos and shower gels – a volume of 150 ml is enough for a travel pack or for a trial batch before larger production.
  • Customer samples – the bottle with its cap has a uniform look, so it also suits a whole series of trial packs.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the product may overflow when you close the bottle or be pushed out when the wall is squeezed.

With thicker products, for example lotions or gel shampoos, leave a reserve in the neck and fill with a funnel or syringe so that the contents do not get caught in the thread. A dirty thread does not tighten as well and the cap may leak.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Water left in an empty bottle dilutes the product and puts a strain on the preservative system.

PET is not intended for hot filling. Fill emulsions, liquid soaps and thicker gels only after they have cooled to room temperature. Do not place the bottle near a heat source or in direct sunlight, as the wall may become deformed.

Clear material does not protect against light. Store light-sensitive products, for example oils prone to yellowing or serums with unstable active ingredients, in a cupboard or in a box, or choose dark packaging.

The cap is made of polypropylene and LDPE and the bottle of PET. For highly concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and solvents, we recommend testing one bottle before a larger batch. After a few weeks, check whether the wall, thread or cap has changed and whether the contents smell of plastic.

You will find closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations of a bottle with a pump or sprayer, in the Handymade range. If you build your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

After filling, turn the closed bottle upside down and leave it to stand on a paper towel for a few minutes. If a damp mark appears, tighten the cap or check whether any product has been left in the thread.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle and the cap can be reused as long as the thread is not damaged and the wall is not yellowed or deformed. For recycling, separate the cap from the bottle, as they are different types of plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. The bottle suits products that are not affected by light, or contents that are stored in a cupboard, in a box or out of direct sunlight. For oils and serums with light-sensitive ingredients, dark glass or opaque plastic is a safer choice.
How much does a 150 ml bottle actually hold?
The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 150 ml. The brimful volume is slightly larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill the bottle to the neck, the product is pushed into the thread when you close it and the cap may leak.
Can I fill a PET bottle with an alcohol-based toner or with oil?
Yes, PET is commonly used for water-based, alcohol-based and oil-based cosmetic products. Toners, hydrosols, micellar waters and vegetable oils keep well in it under normal storage. With a high proportion of essential oils, with fragrance compositions or with solvents, we recommend testing one bottle first, because these substances can attack the plastic over time.
How do I prepare the bottle and cap before first use?
Wash the bottle and the cap in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse them, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry upside down. Do not pour boiling water into the bottle, as PET deforms with heat. Use the same procedure for repeated filling. Before that, check that the thread is not damaged and that the cap seals.
What other closure fits a bottle with a 24/410 neck finish?
The bottle takes closures with a 24/410 neck finish, that is, closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters. The silver cap supplied is for pouring and closing. If you want to dispense the product differently, choose a closure with the same neck finish from the Handymade range. If you build your own combination, check the tightness of the filled bottle by turning it upside down.
Is the plastic bottle with cap suitable for food?
No, this set is declared for contact with cosmetics only, not for contact with food. The declaration of conformity for cosmetic use is available with the product. For home-made oils, syrups or herbal infusions, choose packaging that has a food-contact certificate stated in the parameters.
