Product description

A bottle with a trigger sprayer applies liquid contents as a fine, even mist without spilling and without touching by hand. This is a ready-made set: a clear plastic bottle with a capacity of 500 ml and a white trigger sprayer that fits it directly. Suitable for tonics, hydrolats, refreshing and hair sprays, cleaning solutions, surface disinfection or misting plants. It is lightweight, unlike glass it will not break, and through the transparent wall you can see how much content remains.

The bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of PP. Both components have declared suitability for contact with cosmetic products, so the set is intended for cosmetic and technical use. It is not declared for contact with food.

What the set is suitable for

  • Tonics and hydrolats – the sprayer disperses thin aqueous solutions into a fine mist that spreads evenly on the skin.
  • Hair and body sprays – leave-on aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic preparations where precise and economical dosing matters.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting solutions – the technical quality of the packaging allows use both in the household and in the workshop; the larger volume reduces the number of refills.
  • Solutions for plants and interiors – misting leaves, water-based air fresheners, textile solutions.

The sprayer works best with thin liquids. Thick emulsions, gels or preparations with undissolved particles clog the pump and the mist turns into an irregular stream. Pure oils are harder to dose and the spray is coarser. For oil-based products, packaging with a pump dispenser or dropper is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger and extends to the neck. The difference forms a reserve for the sprayer tube, the air gap and expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, when the sprayer is screwed on, the contents will overflow through the neck and contaminate the thread.

How the set works

The trigger sprayer draws the contents through a tube that reaches to the bottom of the bottle, so almost the entire volume is used up. On first use, the trigger needs to be pressed several times without dispensing until the system fills with liquid. Each press releases a small, repeatable dose of approximately 0.2 ml, which makes for economical application. The smooth collar without grooves is easy to clean.

Before first filling, rinse both the bottle and sprayer, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Moisture in the packaging reduces the stability of aqueous preparations without adequate preservation.

What is good to know

  • Light – clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Store preparations with essential oils, plant extracts or light-sensitive active ingredients in the dark, or choose dark-coloured packaging for them.
  • Essential oils and solvents – PET and PP tolerate aqueous and mildly alcoholic solutions. With a high proportion of essential oils, acetone or other aggressive solvents, the plastic may become cloudy or deform over time. Test the behaviour of the packaging with a specific formulation on a small sample.
  • Heat – PET is not suitable for hot filling. Allow the contents to cool before filling, otherwise the bottle will change shape.
  • Repeated use – the set can be used repeatedly. After emptying, rinse with clean water, flush the sprayer with several presses of water and leave to dry. When changing the contents, disinfection with alcohol is recommended.
  • Preservation – aqueous preparations in the sprayer come into contact with air through the pump vent. Without a preservation system, they have a limited shelf life, just as in any other packaging.
  • Recycling – both the PET bottle and the PP sprayer belong in plastic waste. Before disposing, empty and rinse the packaging.

The sprayer is not intended for flammable preparations with a high alcohol content or for aggressive chemicals. With chlorine or acid solutions, test the resistance of the mechanism on a small sample.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With a custom combination of bottle and a different closure, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and behaviour of the packaging with a specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the plastic bottle with trigger sprayer suitable for hydrolats and tonics?
Yes, aqueous preparations such as hydrolats and tonics are the most suitable contents for this set. The sprayer disperses them into a fine mist and the PET bottle does not react with them. Since the bottle is transparent, store light-sensitive preparations away from direct sunlight and ensure adequate preservation of the aqueous phase.
Can oil be filled into a trigger sprayer?
Pure oil can be sprayed, but the result is not a fine mist and dispensing requires more effort. The pump is designed for thin aqueous and alcoholic solutions. For oil serums and body oils, packaging with a pump dispenser or dropper is more suitable. If you still want to spray oil, test the behaviour of the mechanism with a small amount.
Why is the plastic bottle with sprayer not filled to the brim?
Because the sprayer tube and its lower part take up space in the neck and the contents would overflow when screwed on. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. the level it is designed for during normal use. The remaining reserve also allows for expansion of the contents when temperature changes.
How is the bottle with trigger sprayer cleaned before repeated use?
Rinse both the bottle and sprayer with clean water, press the pump several times with water to flush the tube and nozzle, and leave everything to dry. When changing the type of contents or with cosmetic preparations, additionally disinfect the packaging with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Residues from the previous contents may degrade the new fill.
Can the PET bottle with sprayer withstand essential oils and alcohol?
In standard concentrations, yes. Aqueous-alcoholic solutions and preparations with a low proportion of essential oils do not damage PET or PP. With a high proportion of essential oils or with strong solvents, the plastic may become cloudy or soften over time, so test the resistance of the packaging with such a formulation on a sample.
Is the plastic bottle with trigger sprayer suitable for food?
No, this set is declared for contact with cosmetic products and for technical use, not for food. It is suitable for cosmetic sprays, cleaning and disinfecting solutions or plant misting. For household oils, syrups or herbal extracts, choose packaging that has a food-contact certification listed in the parameters.
