Product description

A transparent round PET bottle with a capacity of 300 ml and a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use set for liquid and semi-liquid products dispensed through a small opening: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners, body lotions, or massage oils.

PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making the bottle suitable for use in the shower, bathroom, and on the go — anywhere glass might break. The clear wall lets you see how much product remains. The flip-top opens with one hand and its hinged part stays attached to the cap so it cannot be lost.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for food use.

Which products is the set suitable for

  • Shampoos, shower gels, and liquid soaps – medium-viscosity surfactant products flow through the opening evenly and the dose is easy to estimate.
  • Conditioners and body lotions – thinner emulsions are a good fit. Thick creams and butters will not pass through the opening; those belong in a jar.
  • Massage and body oils – oil is dispensed in small amounts directly into the palm.
  • Coloured and layered products – the clear wall shows the colour, pearlescence, or two-phase content. It will equally reveal any colour change or cloudiness.

Very thin water-based products flow out of the opening quickly and the dose is difficult to control. A different closure type is more practical for these.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume is the physical capacity up to the rim of the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a buffer for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The air space above the product also makes it easier to shake.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle may leak through the thread after the cap is closed or when the contents warm up.

Preparation and filling

Before the first fill, it is recommended to wash the bottle and cap with lukewarm water and a small amount of detergent, then rinse thoroughly. They are then rinsed or sprayed with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. With a flip-top cap, it is worth checking the dispensing opening and the area under the hinged part, as water tends to collect there the longest.

PET must be protected from heat; at higher temperatures it softens and deforms. The bottle should not be washed with hot water, must not be boiled, and product should be filled only after it has cooled down.

The bottle is filled using a funnel or a beaker with a spout. The cap is tightened by hand with moderate force. Overtightening may strip the thread and cause the cap to lose its seal.

Good to know

  • Light – clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Products containing vegetable oils, extracts, vitamins, or natural colourants should be kept out of direct sunlight, or a dark packaging option should be chosen.
  • Essential oils and solvents – concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions, and organic solvents can damage the plastic. The bottle is not intended for storing these.
  • Labelling – self-adhesive labels adhere best to a dry and degreased surface, ideally before filling. The bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck type (stated in the specifications) and further ready-to-use combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend testing the seal, dispensing performance, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – both the bottle and the cap are made of plastic and should be placed in sorted plastic waste collection once empty.

Frequently asked questions

Which products are suitable for the 300 ml plastic bottle with a flip-top cap?
The 300 ml plastic bottle with a flip-top cap is suitable for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products, particularly shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners, body lotions, and massage oils. The contents are dispensed by tilting and gently squeezing the bottle through the small opening. Thick creams and butters will not pass through the opening, while very thin liquids flow out too quickly.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, a clear PET bottle transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. It is suitable for products unaffected by light, or for those stored in a bathroom cabinet or in the shower away from direct sunlight. For formulations containing sensitive oils, extracts, or natural colourants, a dark or opaque packaging is the safer choice.
Can a warm product be filled into a PET bottle?
Warm or hot products should not be filled into a PET bottle, as PET softens at higher temperatures and the bottle may deform. Shampoos, gels, and emulsions should only be filled once they have cooled down. For the same reason, the bottle should not be washed with hot water or sterilised by boiling. Isopropyl alcohol or ethanol is used for disinfection.
Can the PET bottle with a flip-top cap be reused?
Yes, the PET bottle with a flip-top cap can be reused if it is undamaged and thoroughly cleaned before refilling. Wash with lukewarm water and detergent, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely. Pay particular attention to the dispensing opening and the area under the hinged part of the cap, where product residue tends to collect. A scratched or deformed bottle is best discarded.
Is a PET bottle suitable for products containing essential oils?
For finished products with standard essential oil usage levels, a PET bottle is generally suitable; for concentrated essential oils, it is not. Undiluted essential oils, fragrance compositions, and solvents can damage the plastic and should therefore be stored in glass. For more heavily fragranced formulations, it is advisable to do a trial fill with a single bottle and monitor its shape, clarity, and cap seal over several weeks.
