Product description
A plastic bottle with a disc top closure is a ready-to-use complete package for liquid to medium-viscosity cosmetic products that can be dispensed with one hand – shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, and conditioners. The transparent PET shows the colour and remaining volume, is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for the bathroom and shower. The 100 ml volume is practical for travel-size packaging, samples, and smaller production runs.
Both the bottle and the closure are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
How a disc top works and which textures it suits
A disc top is a flat closure with a flip disc. Pressing one side of the disc opens the dispensing opening; pressing the other side closes it again. The closure does not need to be unscrewed, which is an advantage with wet hands. The product is dispensed by tilting the bottle and gently squeezing its wall.
Liquid and medium-viscosity textures pass through the opening easily. Very thick creams, masks, and balms do not flow through the opening and remain on the walls. Thin, watery products flow out quickly and are harder to measure. Scrubs with coarser particles may clog the opening.
Suitable for products such as
- Shampoos and shower gels – gel-consistency products dispense precisely through the opening, and the closed closure limits water ingress in the shower.
- Conditioners and body lotions – suitable are thinner emulsions that flow on their own towards the neck when the bottle is tilted.
- Liquid soaps and facial cleansing gels – dispensed with one hand, without unscrewing the closure.
- Massage and body oils – the smaller opening makes it easier to dispense drop by drop or in a thin stream.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for during standard filling. Total volume is the physical volume up to the rim of the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents during temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. The nominal volume is listed in the specifications.
When filling, leave some headspace below the neck. An overfilled bottle will push the contents around the disc on the first press, and the closure will get soiled when closing.
What is good to know before filling
Container preparation. Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the closure, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Any remaining water in the container unnecessarily burdens the product's preservation system.
Filling temperature. PET softens and deforms at elevated temperatures. Hot-process products should therefore be filled only once cooled. The bottle should not be boiled or sterilised with hot water.
Undiluted essential oils, fragrance oils, and strong solvents may damage the plastic. Finished products with standard fragrance additions are fine for the bottle; concentrates are not. With a higher content of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend testing the packaging with the specific formulation beforehand.
Light. Clear PET allows light to pass through. Products with light-sensitive ingredients – such as plant oils prone to yellowing or natural colorants – should be stored away from direct sunlight.
Labelling. Apply labels to a dry and degreased surface, ideally before filling or after thoroughly wiping the bottle. Label dimensions are listed in the specifications.
Alternative closure. Closures with the same neck type (listed in the specifications) and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
Sorting. The bottle is made of PET, the closure of PP. Once empty, both components belong in the sorted plastic waste collection.
