Product description

Coco glucoside is a mild, non-ionic surfactant obtained by reacting glucose (sugar from plant sources) and fatty alcohols from coconut oil. It provides gentle yet effective cleansing, rich foam and improves the tolerability of anionic surfactants in blends. It is biodegradable and suitable for natural formulations of personal care products.

It has broad compatibility with all classes of surfactants (anionic, amphoteric, non-ionic) and is suitable as a primary as well as secondary co-surfactant. Typical final formulation pH can be broad (approx. 4–12), while the raw material itself has an alkaline pH.

Use in formulation:

Solubility: fully soluble in water
Dosage: approximately 1 – 25 % depending on product type and desired ASM
Raw material pH: approx. 11.5 – 12.5
Addition to process: usually into the aqueous/surfactant phase, ideally cold-processed or with gentle heating
Compatibility: anionic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants

Thanks to its plant origin, mildness, high compatibility and HLB ~13, Coco glucoside is a universal surfactant for sustainable, gentle and effective cleansing products.

It is a mild non-ionic surfactant often used in products for sensitive and baby skin; however, mildness always depends on the overall formulation and dosage.

What pH is suitable for the final product?

Coco glucoside tolerates a wide pH range; for skin products a slightly acidic pH (around 4.5–6.5) is usually targeted.
