Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate belongs to the group of anionic surfactants (also called surfactants or surface-active agents). It is obtained from coconut oil, specifically from its fatty acids. It is of purely plant origin, environmentally friendly and biodegradable.

Disodium 2-sulfolaurate is a mild surfactant that is often used in cosmetic products such as shampoos, conditioners, shower gels and facial cleansing products. It effectively removes impurities, grease and excess sebum without disrupting the skin’s natural protective barrier. It is also suitable for sensitive skin and mucous membranes, ideal for baby products and formulations that do not sting the eyes. It also has conditioning properties – it improves the condition of the hair, providing excellent combability even in the absence of polymers.

It creates a creamy and rich foam and is stable (even in hard water or in the presence of vegetable oil). It is compatible with a wide pH range and temperatures, which ensures its stability in several types of products.

It is soluble in water.
