Emollients – softening, beautifying ingredients for a silky “skin feel”

The emollients category brings together raw materials that improve spreadability, slip and the overall feel of cosmetics. In practice they deliver softness without a heavy film, a smoother texture and a better sensory profile in creams, serums, lotions and hair care.

Are these emollients suitable for shampoos and shower gels?

Yes, several of them reduce the degreasing effect of surfactants and leave the skin and hair softer after washing – lipid softeners such as Glyceryl Oleate are typical here. When dosing, allow for compatibility with the surfactants you use and for the viscosity of the finished product, so that it stays stable and pleasant to use.
