The glass bottle with safety cap represents a reliable packaging for liquid and mildly viscous formulations where protection of the contents, precise dosing and a professional appearance of the final product are important. The dark glass naturally helps protect sensitive components from light, which is especially advantageous for products containing natural extracts, oils or active substances prone to degradation.
The bottle is suitable for packaging cosmetic preparations, laboratory and artisan formulations where content stability, secure closure and a visually clean finish are important. The safety closure with a safety lock helps reduce the risk of unintentional opening, which is particularly appreciated by manufacturers of products intended for precise dosing and professional use.
This glass bottle is compatible with various types of closures and dosing systems (for example screw caps, droppers, sprayers or practical applicators) according to the parameters selected for the product. Combinations of packages and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – verifying sealing, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation, especially for products containing acids, a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils.
All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
When planning the final packaging, we recommend considering not only the physical parameters of the packaging but also the viscosity of the product, the desired type of dosing, the method of storage and the expected frequency of use. In this way you will achieve an optimal connection between formulation, design and packaging functionality.
The glass bottle is generally very suitable for formulations containing essential oils, plant oils and light-sensitive active substances. The dark glass supports protection against undesirable light exposure and the stable material minimizes the risk of interactions with the contents. Nevertheless, we always recommend performing your own stability test – filling a smaller quantity of the product, observing any changes in colour, scent or consistency and verifying compatibility with the chosen type of closure or dosing system.
The packaging can be used repeatedly if strict hygiene rules are followed. Before each refilling it is essential to thoroughly clean the bottle and the cap and then disinfect them with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection you can use the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after the alcohol has completely dried and aired out is the bottle ready for refilling. When changing the type of product (for example from oil-based to water-based), we recommend always making a trial batch and checking whether any residues of the original formulation remain in the packaging.
When filling, we recommend working in the cleanest environment possible, using clean and disinfected funnels, pipettes or filling devices and minimizing contact of the inner side of the neck with bare hands. Do not fill the bottle completely to the top – leave a small headspace so that the product is not forced out through the thread during closing. After filling, tighten the closure carefully and observe the bottle for a while in an upright position to see whether any signs of seepage appear around the thread area. For products with a higher alcohol content or essential oils it is advisable to carry out a longer leak test under conditions that approximate real storage and use.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules and with the recommendations provided for the product in the parameter table on Handymade.sk. The glass bottle can usually be placed, after thorough rinsing and removal of product residues, in the container designated for glass. The cap is usually made from a material different from glass, so separate it from the bottle and sort it according to the material type stated in the product parameters (for example into plastics or mixed waste, depending on local recycling options). Before recycling, it is also advisable to remove any labels, if the material allows.
To select suitable packaging, you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific packaging category (for example bottles, jars, pots). In the advanced filter you can clearly set parameters such as neck type, size, colour or material and display only the packages that meet your requirements. We also recommend considering the nature of the product (oil-based vs. water-based, light sensitivity, alcohol content), the dosing method and the intended use – based on that you can fine-tune the ideal combination of packaging and closure within the filters. If you are not sure, it is practical to start with a smaller quantity of packaging and first carry out testing in practice.
