Yes, the packaging can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to minimise the risk of microbial contamination. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol – on Handymade you can find the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol and etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný. After disinfection, allow all parts to dry completely and only then refill.
The bottle with spray pump is ideal for all liquid formulations that are to be applied in the form of a fine mist – for example facial toners, floral waters, refreshing and hydrating sprays for face and body, hair tonics or aromatic sprays for interiors and textiles. Always verify the suitability for a specific recipe with a test batch, especially if the product contains a higher proportion of alcohol or concentrated essential oils.
First, disassemble the bottle – separate the glass container from the spray pump and any cap. Rinse the glass part with warm water and a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Then disinfect it by rinsing with a suitable alcohol (e.g. IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol or etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný) and again allow the residual alcohol to evaporate. For the spray pump, we recommend drawing the alcohol into the mechanism with several actuations so that the inner part is disinfected, then rinsing through with clean water and allowing it to dry.
If you decide not to use the packaging further, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules and with the information given in the product parameters. After emptying and rinsing, the glass bottle is generally placed in the container designated for glass. Separate the plastic parts of the spray pump (pump, tube, cap) from the glass and dispose of them in the appropriate plastic container, if local rules allow this.
