Combining with closures and dispensers

Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – focusing on sealing, dosing method and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation (viscosity, alcohol content, oil phase or surface-active substances). In this way you verify that the bottle with sprayer will work reliably under your conditions even during long-term use.

FAQ – Most frequent questions

Is it possible to use this plastic bottle with sprayer repeatedly?

The bottle can be used repeatedly provided that you observe basic hygiene rules and the packaging is mechanically undamaged. Before each new filling, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the bottle and the sprayer and then disinfecting them with a suitable preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % or plant-derived ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured. Only after complete drying and evaporation of the alcohol is the packaging ready for refilling. Do not expose the PET material to high temperatures, do not boil it and do not wash it in a dishwasher, in order to avoid deformation.

How should the bottle and sprayer be properly cleaned before further use?

First rinse the packaging thoroughly with a suitable cleaning solution or with warm water and a mild detergent (but not with hot water, so that the PET is not deformed). Then rinse the bottle and the dip tube several times with clean water. To increase hygiene, we recommend applying disinfection at the end – fill the packaging with a small amount of alcohol IPA 99 % or Ethanol 96 % denatured and press the sprayer several times so that the internal part of the mechanism is also flushed through. After the alcohol has evaporated, the bottle is ready for refilling.

What should be taken into account when using a PET bottle with sprayer?

For PET packaging it is important to avoid high temperatures – do not place the packaging close to sources of heat, do not leave it in an overheated car and do not boil it or wash it in a dishwasher. High temperature can lead to deformation of the bottle or deterioration of the functionality of the sprayer. For formulations with a higher content of alcohol or essential oils, we always recommend performing your own longer-term compatibility test to verify whether the material and the dosing mechanism are suitable for your product.

How can I dispose of or recycle this bottle in an environmentally friendly way if I no longer want to use it?

If you decide not to use the packaging any further, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material given in the parameter table by the product on the Handymade website. The body of the bottle made of PET plastic usually belongs in the container intended for plastic waste, and the sprayer with its various plastic parts should be separated and likewise placed in sorted plastic waste, unless local rules state otherwise. Before discarding, always empty the packaging completely and, if possible, remove residues of aggressive or poorly biodegradable substances in order to facilitate the recycling process.
