Glass packaging is generally very stable and suitable even for formulations containing essential oils or other volatile aromatic components. Nevertheless, we always recommend carrying out your own stability test – especially in the case of a high concentration of essential oils or when using less common raw materials. Monitor any changes in colour, odour and viscosity, as well as the functionality of the dropper during long‑term storage.

The bottle can be reused provided that proper hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol, for example isopropyl alcohol or denatured plant ethanol. After disinfection, allow the bottle and dropper to dry completely at room temperature. When changing the type of product (e.g. from an oil‑based to a water‑based product), we recommend using the packaging only after verifying that no residues of the original contents or odour remain.

First, thoroughly remove any residues of the original product from the bottle using warm water and a suitable cleaning agent intended for laboratory or cosmetic packaging. The glass parts can be rinsed with warm water, while avoiding sudden temperature shocks. After mechanical cleaning, we recommend final disinfection using alcohol (for example /ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/ or /etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/ – both available on Handymade) and complete drying in a clean, dust‑free place. For the dropper, also pay attention to the rubber and plastic parts and check whether they are mechanically damaged or deformed.

If you decide not to use the packaging any longer, we recommend placing it in sorted waste collection according to the material composition stated in the product parameters on the Handymade website. The glass part of the bottle can usually be placed in glass collection after removing any remaining contents and separating the upper components. The closure and dropper usually contain a combination of plastic, rubber and possibly metal, so adapt their sorting to the specific material stated in the description and to local waste collection rules. Before recycling, always empty the bottle and accessories and clean them as thoroughly as possible of any product residues.
