The glass bottle with spray pump is generally suitable for most aqueous and alcoholic solutions commonly used in cosmetics (for example toners, face mists or aromatic sprays). Before final inclusion in production, we always recommend performing your own test – verifying the longer-term behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation, especially in the case of higher alcohol content or the use of atypical solvents.

The packaging can be reused if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol solution (for example using the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based). After disinfection, allow all parts to dry completely and only then fill them again in order to minimize the risk of microbial contamination and an impact on product stability.

The spray pump is designed to create a fine and even mist when it is correctly screwed onto the bottle neck. If there is intermittent spraying or dripping, check whether the spray head is firmly tightened, whether the dip tube is correctly fitted and undamaged, and whether there are no deposits inside it. For thicker or more content-rich formulations, it may be necessary to slightly adjust the composition (e.g. reduce viscosity) so that the spray pump operates optimally.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules and the information provided in the parameter table for the product on Handymade. After emptying and basic rinsing, the glass bottle is usually sorted into the container intended for glass. The spray pump, which consists of several materials (plastic, metal spring and possibly other components), generally needs to be sorted according to the instructions of the local collection system or placed in mixed waste if the recycling system does not accept combined components. Always check the current recommendations of your municipality or city before disposal.
