Before the first filling we recommend disassembling the packaging (bottle, roll-on insert, closure), mechanically cleaning it from any dust particles and then disinfecting it. Disinfection with technical alcohol, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, is suitable. After disinfection let all parts dry thoroughly at room temperature so that moisture does not accumulate in the container or in the applicator, and only then proceed to filling with the final product.

The glass roll-on bottle can be used repeatedly provided hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling it is necessary to clean the packaging thoroughly, wash the glass part with a suitable cleaning agent, rinse well and then disinfect with alcohol. For disinfection we recommend, for example, alcohol-based products available on Handymade such as IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured vegetable. The roll-on insert and the closure should be cleaned more gently so that the seals are not damaged. Only after all parts have completely dried is the bottle ready for further use.

We recommend storing the filled bottle well closed, in a dry environment and protected from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Even though dark glass helps protect the contents from light, sensitive blends (for example oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or essential oils) are more stable at a lower and stable temperature. Avoid leaving the packaging repeatedly for long periods in a hot car or on a windowsill in direct sun in order to minimize oxidation and changes in the scent or consistency of the product.

If you decide not to use the packaging further, we recommend first emptying it as much as possible of any remaining product. The glass part can, after cleaning, be placed into sorted glass collection according to local rules. Plastic components (roll-on insert, any plastic closure or seal) are sorted according to the type of plastic listed in the product parameters and indicated on the packaging, or they can be discarded with mixed waste if separate recycling is not possible. Always follow the recommendation for the material given in the parameter table with the product on the Handymade website and the local rules for waste sorting.
