Yes, the Boston-type glass vial is very practical for testing new formulations as well as for small pilot batches. The resistant glass minimises any influence on the composition, the smooth walls allow easy batch labelling and, thanks to the screw closure, handling the contents is convenient even with repeated opening. For first-time use we always recommend verifying the compatibility of the container with the specific recipe on a small sample.

The container can be reused provided that hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the closure must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after the disinfectant has completely dried is the bottle ready for further safe use. When changing the type of product (e.g. from an oil-based to a water-based product) we recommend carrying out a more thorough cleaning and control process.

If you decide not to reuse the bottle, we recommend first emptying it and removing any product residues. According to the material specified in the product parameters, you then place it in the appropriate sorted waste stream – the glass body of the bottle belongs in the container designated for glass. The closure and sealing components should be sorted according to their material (e.g. plastic or metal), if this is possible in your municipality. In this way you support efficient recycling and reduce the amount of waste.

When selecting a closure or dosing system it is important to consider the type of product and the desired mode of application. For liquid preparations, classic screw caps, pipette droppers or fine mist sprayers are often used, while for oil blends droppers with a lower flow rate are preferred. Nevertheless, we always recommend testing sealing and dosing with your specific formulation, especially if it contains alcohols, acids or a high proportion of essential oils.
