Yes, the container can be reused if proper hygiene principles are followed. Before each refilling, the bottle must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination. For disinfection, we recommend, for example, isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % or plant-based ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured. After cleaning, allow the container to dry completely and only then refill it.

The plastic material of the container should not be exposed to high temperatures, so we do not recommend washing the bottle in a dishwasher or boiling it. At high temperatures there is a risk of deformation of the container and deterioration of the sealing properties of the thread. For cleaning it is more suitable to use lukewarm water, a mild detergent, thorough rinsing and subsequent disinfection with an appropriate alcohol-based preparation.

If you decide not to reuse the container, we recommend recycling it responsibly in accordance with local waste sorting rules. You should follow the material designation and the recycling symbol stated in the parameter table for the product on the Handymade website. Before placing it in the separate collection, it is advisable to empty the bottle, if necessary rinse it from product residues, and then place it in the appropriate container according to the type of plastic.

When filling, always check the compatibility of your formulation with the packaging material as well as with the closure used. With a high proportion of alcohol, essential oils or active substances it is important to carry out short-term and medium-term tests – monitor the behaviour of the bottle walls, the sealing of the thread and any changes in the consistency or odour of the product. It is recommended to fill and store a sample under similar conditions to those in which the product will be used by the final customer.

Thanks to its low weight and resistance to breakage, the plastic bottle is suitable for carrying in cosmetic bags or luggage and, if properly packed, also for shipping finished products. Before dispatch, we recommend checking that the closure is properly tightened, and if necessary using additional protection (for example shrink film or suitable packaging material) and positioning the bottle during transport so that the possibility of mechanical compression or impact is minimised.
