Product description

Fragrance oil Pán Božský adds scent to soaps, shower gels, body creams and other cosmetics. It is a ready-made fragrance composition in cosmetic quality, incorporated into the formula at the appropriate stage and in the amount specified in the IFRA certificate. In a practical test in cold process soap, it did not accelerate trace and did not discolour the batter.

What it's suitable for

  • Cold process soap – according to practical testing, the fragrance does not alter the behaviour of the batter, so it can also be used for layering or swirling.
  • Rinse-off products – liquid soaps, shower gels and shampoos.
  • Leave-on cosmetics – body creams, lotions, massage and body oils, always within the range permitted for the relevant category by the IFRA certificate.
  • Other categories per IFRA – the certificate distinguishes categories from lip products to candles and air fresheners, and specifies the maximum permitted amount for each.

Use in formulation

The fragrance oil belongs in the oil phase or is added at the end of production. In emulsions, it is incorporated after cooling, once the cream is stable. In anhydrous products such as massage oils or balms, it is blended with the other oils and mixed thoroughly.

In water-based products without an oil phase, such as toners or sprays, the fragrance oil will not dissolve on its own. A solubiliser is required, and the amount is adjusted according to the fragrance dose and the solubiliser manufacturer's recommendations. In shower gels and liquid soaps, the fragrance is usually incorporated by the surfactant base itself, though it is worth checking for cloudiness or a drop in viscosity on a small sample.

In cold process soap, the fragrance is added to the batter at light trace, like other fragrance oils. In the manufacturer's practical test, the batter did not thicken after addition and trace did not accelerate, so the time for pouring and decorating remained unrestricted. No discolouration of the batter occurred, and light and white soaps retained their shade in the test.

Dosage and IFRA certificate

The maximum fragrance amount depends on the product type. The IFRA certificate listed with the product states the maximum permitted concentration for each category (for example, category 9 for bar and liquid soaps, 5A for body creams, 4 for perfumes), and this is binding. Before production, verify the limit for your category in the certificate and start at the lower end until the fragrance has settled in the finished product.

Assess fragrance intensity only in the finished and cured product. In soap, the fragrance changes during curing; in an emulsion it presents differently than in pure oil. It is worth making a small test batch before committing the fragrance to a full production run.

What's worth knowing

The oil has a yellow colour. In cold process soap, no discolouration was observed; for white creams or clear water-based products, check the shade on a sample at higher dosages.

The product is subject to the CLP regulation and contains hazardous substances. The product lists pictograms for irritation and sensitisation and for ecotoxicity. Detailed information on composition, classification and safe handling is provided in the safety data sheet, available with the product along with the UFI number. This is also the basis for labelling finished products that contain the fragrance.

The fragrance originates from France and serves exclusively as a fragrance ingredient in the formulation. It does not replace any active ingredient; its role is to give the product its scent and character.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pán Božský fragrance oil suitable for cold process soap?
Yes, in a practical test in cold process soap it did not accelerate trace and did not discolour the batter. The batter did not thicken after addition, leaving sufficient time for pouring, layering and swirling. Light soaps retained their shade in the test. Dosage is governed by the category 9 limit in the IFRA certificate.
Does Pán Božský fragrance oil dissolve in water?
No, fragrance oil does not dissolve in water and belongs in the oil phase. For toners, sprays or other water-based products without oil, a solubiliser is needed to disperse the fragrance evenly in the solution. In shower gels and liquid soaps, the surfactant base usually incorporates it; stability should be verified on a sample.
How much Pán Božský fragrance oil is added to a cream or soap?
The maximum dosage is specified in the IFRA certificate listed with the product, separately for each product type. Soaps, shower gels and shampoos fall under category 9, body creams and oils under category 5A, facial creams under 5B. Before production, verify the value for your category in the certificate and start at the lower end.
When is Pán Božský fragrance oil added to an emulsion?
Only at the end, once the emulsion has cooled and is stable. After addition, the cream is mixed thoroughly to disperse the fragrance evenly. Assess the final intensity only in the finished product, as the fragrance presents differently in an emulsion than in pure oil.
Does anything need to be labelled when selling products containing Pán Božský fragrance oil?
The product is subject to the CLP regulation and contains hazardous substances. Labelling of finished products is therefore based on the safety data sheet and the IFRA certificate, both available with the product. The certificate also specifies the maximum fragrance amount permitted for the relevant product category.
