Product description
Glass bottle, glossy black, with dropper, 30 ml
This glass bottle with dropper is designed for filling small volumes of products that are dispensed drop by drop. Black glass does not let light through, so the contents stay protected from it throughout use. You will appreciate this especially with facial serums, oil blends with essential oils, alcohol tinctures or concentrates of active ingredients that change or oxidise faster when exposed to light. The glossy black glass with a matte silver dropper also looks like a finished product without any further decoration.
The set comes as a bottle with dropper and an 18/410 neck finish; both parts fit together and there is nothing else to buy. The 30 ml volume matches the usual size of a serum or oil for the face, beard or nails. The shape is a classic medicine bottle with a straight body and a narrow neck.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial and hair serums – both water-based and oil-based; the dropper lets you measure out a few drops without your fingers touching the contents.
- Oil blends and nail oils – blends of carrier and essential oils, where the dark glass slows down light-induced oxidation.
- Alcohol tinctures and extracts for cosmetic use – glass does not react with alcohol or with essential oils, which could degrade plastic packaging over time.
- Concentrates and active ingredients – samples, ampoule treatments or measured amounts of raw materials for formulations where precise dispensing matters.
- Perfume oils and fragrance blends – in small volumes where the contents are applied to specific spots.
How to use the packaging
The dropper consists of a glass pipette, a silicone bulb and an aluminium cap with a plastic insert. After unscrewing it, squeeze the bulb, draw up the contents and, by releasing the bulb over your palm or a bowl, dispense them drop by drop. The length of the dropper matches the height of the bottle and the pipette reaches almost to the bottom, so the contents can be dispensed even when the level is low.
Thicker serums, for example those with a higher proportion of gelling agents, are drawn up by the dropper more slowly and form larger drops. Before filling a larger batch, test how your specific formulation dispenses from the dropper and adjust the viscosity if needed.
Nominal and brimful volume
The bottle is designed to be filled with 30 ml of product. The brimful volume stated in the parameters is larger because it also includes the space in the neck. The difference between the two values provides headroom for the dropper, which is immersed in the contents when screwed on and pushes the level up, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Therefore, fill only up to the nominal volume. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed into the thread when the dropper is fitted, the thread becomes sticky and the closure stops sealing.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. This applies especially to water-based products with a preservative, whose effectiveness is reduced in contaminated packaging. After thorough washing, the packaging can be reused. However, the silicone bulb of the dropper may soften after prolonged contact with essential oils or alcohol, so check it when refilling.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Fill it with cooled contents; let hot emulsions or oils cool to room temperature first, otherwise the bottle may crack. The level cannot be seen through the opaque black glass, so judge how much is left by weight or by how much the dropper draws up.
Both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The glass bottle on its own is also certified for direct food contact, but the dropper is not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. If you need a different type of closure, the Handymade range includes closures with the same 18/410 neck finish as well as other ready-made combinations. If you put together your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The dropper is not a child-resistant closure; the bottle opens with a single turn. Store products with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or active ingredients that must be kept out of the reach of children with this in mind.
Once emptied and rinsed, the bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials and is sorted by part: the glass pipette goes into glass recycling, the aluminium cap with the plastic insert according to the collection options available in your area.
