Gloss Black Glass Bottle, Glossy Silver White Dropper, 15 ml

The 15 ml glass bottle with dropper is used for filling and dispensing liquid preparations drop by drop. The black opaque glass blocks out light, so the set is particularly suitable for facial and oil serums, essential oil blends and other concentrated preparations that lose potency or change colour when exposed to light. The glossy glass with a silver closure also looks good in gift packaging or in a small production run intended for sale.

The set consists of a black glass medicine bottle and a dropper with a glass tube, a silver collar and a silicone squeeze bulb. The dropper screws onto the bottle and closes it at the same time, so there is no need to open the bottle or pour out the contents to take some. The packaging is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

• Facial and eye serums – the small volume and drop-by-drop dispensing suit concentrated preparations that are applied in amounts of a few drops.
• Oil serums and blends of vegetable oils – dark glass slows the yellowing of oils in light, and the dropper dispenses the oil without it running down the neck.
• Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – 15 ml is a common volume for diluted blends for the skin or for fragrance samples.
• Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the drops can be counted out precisely.
• Samples and test packs – when developing a formulation, a trial batch is filled into a small bottle for a stability test or for evaluation by customers.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 15 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

A funnel, a beaker with a spout or a syringe is useful for filling the narrow neck. Thicker oils and serums fill more slowly and the dropper draws them up with more difficulty. With gel textures, check beforehand that the contents can be drawn into the tube at all.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the dropper tube would get into an anhydrous preparation and could spoil it. Follow the same procedure for repeated use; after thorough cleaning, both the bottle and the dropper can be filled again.

Do not pour hot contents into the glass and avoid sudden changes in temperature, as the glass may crack. Fill finished preparations only after they have cooled to room temperature.

Once empty, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials, so separate the glass tube from the bulb and the collar before disposing of it.
